Varda. Icelandic for “stones of remembrance“. This EP explores the significance of remembering and reminding we all journey from this life to another leaving trail markers for others. I took this picture for the artwork at the bridge between the continents on Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula. Stack stones with my youngest son while the other two played tag. I realize that I saw many stack stones and I wanted to remember what they were some trail markers, others historical markers, reminders of sacred times and spaces in Celtic traditions these structures are called Carin stones. In Iceland, they are called vordur or singular varda. Were there stones in our stories we embody a life of remembrance and gratitude for the past leaving tangible reminders for other others in the future. I hope you enjoy.
