Thank you to everyone who marched with us on Saturday.

This weekend reminded us yet again what’s possible when DC communities come together. Faith leaders, labor organizers, immigrant advocates, community groups, and residents from across all eight wards demonstrated our collective power and sent a clear message: DC will not accept the Trump takeover. We demand immediate withdrawal of federal troops and restoration of local control.

The diversity of voices, the strength of our unity, and the power of our organizing gave us hope in these challenging times. This is what community resistance looks like.

To every congregation and partner organization that mobilized, every member who showed up: thank you for proving that when we organize together, we have real power.

The fight continues, and so does our commitment to building the community power this moment demands.

(Special shout out to @billleephotography for capturing photos of the march!)

Our 2026 Election Platform isn't a wish list. It's what DC residents across all 8 Wards told us they need.

Affordable housing. Public safety. Equitable housing for Black homeowners. Healthy housing. Collective care. Homelessness.

Check out where we stand and what we're organizing and fighting for.

And RSVP to our Candidates Forum on May 17th, where we'll bring these demands to mayoral and at-large candidates. RSVP link in bio.

“Power isthe people.”

As we head into Solidarity Summer, a imple reminder from Rev. Bell at a community-led Forum last week in DC — and a fitting one for #MemorialDay weekend.Comment "power" for the link or grab it from the link in my bio.

But Rev. Bell brought the room to life with a reminder that real power has never come from the top down. It has always come from communities willing to serve, sacrifice, organize, and fight for each other. We honor those who sacrificed for our families and freedoms by continuing the work to protect them.

I am really inspired by the work happening across the country and right in the seat of empire. So wishing folks good weekend full of joy, good food, and rest.#FaithAndWorks #FaithInAction #Democracy #PeoplePower

Every voter in DC should be able to participate in the June primary safely. But at a time when DC is under military occupation and the federal administration is threatening surges of enforcement, it’s going to be up to us to make sure all voters in DC are able to exercise our rights this June.

To make this possible, @lawyerscomm @advancementproject @harrietsdreams @washingtoninterfaithnetwork and Free DC are coming together to form the DC #ElectionProtection Coalition, a nonpartisan effort to assist and protect voters throughout election season.

Voters in DC can call the nonpartisan Election Protection hotline 866-OUR-VOTE if you encounter any challenges when voting.

— Election Protection Field Volunteers will be present outside voting locations to assist voters who might have questions or resolving issues as they evolve.

— And Election Protection trainings on June 8 and 9 will help everyone in DC understand what's involved in Election Protection and how community members can be part of protecting voters this year. These trainings are required for Field Volunteers but open to everyone.

Sign up to be an Election Protection Volunteer or attend the upcoming trainings at bit.ly/election-protection-dc (link in bio)

Election Protection ( @866ourvote) is the nation's largest nonpartisan voter protection effort. Composed of over 300 local, state, and national partner organizations across the country, Election Protection works year-round to protect voters and our fair and democratic elections.

The June primary will be the first time DC voters use Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), a method of voting that allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference.

Want to learn how RCV works, get tips for avoiding common errors, and have a chance to ask questions? Join @growdemocracydc, @washingtoninterfaithnetwork, @dclabor, and Free DC for an RCV overview session all about it. At a time when voting rights nationwide are under attack, this is a particularly important moment to exercise our right to vote.

WE SHOWED UP. WE SHOWED OUT. On behalf of our entire network: THANK YOU.
This Sunday, residents from all 8 wards gathered at Union Temple Baptist Church to prove that another way is possible. And it was even better than we could’ve imagined.
For 30 years, WIN has built collective power across this city. And this forum was where that power became visible.
💙 TO OUR COMMUNITY
💙 TO OUR ORGANIZERS & VOLUNTEERS
💙 TO OUR CLERGY & COMMUNITY LEADERS
💙 TO @dranikawilsonbrown & @uniontempledc
💙 TO Ward 8—and everyone East of the River—thank you for hosting us. We see you!
This city belongs to us. And Sunday proved it. The work doesn’t end when the forum ends. This is just the beginning.
📋 WHAT’S NEXT?
→ Post-forum accountability sessions coming soon
→ Stay engaged. Stay organized. Stay powerful.
In faith and solidarity,
The WIN-DC Team

It’s important as leaders to use every opportunity to uplift the faults that have been expressed by the people in our communities. This speech is comprised of 6 of my peers who have spoken up at a hearing, or told me their wants personally. The more we continue to push together, the easier the work becomes.

Thank you @washingtoninterfaithnetwork for giving speakers an opportunity to share with candidates running for council where our values are.

For 30 years, WIN has built collective power across all 8 wards. Sunday is about more than one election. It's about showing that another way is possible. Our lead organizer, Alison Dunn Almaguer, breaks down why this forum is different:

1️⃣This is NOT a traditional debate.
2️⃣Community presents our agenda FIRST.
3️⃣Candidates respond to US.

While others use faith in extractive and destructive ways, we're showing what faith as a democratic practice actually looks like. Power WITH neighbors—not power OVER them.

DC has always been a beacon for democracy in America. Our communities deserve the same commitment at home.

Mayoral, at-large, and congressional candidates will respond to our community's agenda, one built from listening to DC residents across all 8 Wards on issues spanning from public safety and housing to utility costs and homelessness. Elected officials respond to organized power. When we show up together, from congregations and communities across the city, the commitments candidates make in that room carry real weight. Every person there is part of what makes that possible
