Throwback Thursday: Reminiscing on a wonderful event hosted at our Miami Springs Branch Library.
This special event, called "Color Our World," was an interactive Wildlife Show that introduced kids and parents alike, to exotic animals that can be encountered in our regional ecosystem.
Special thanks to our District 6 County Commissioner @nataliemilianorbis and the@miamidadepubliclibrary system for always providing our residents with engaging programming and incredible opportunities.

Throwback Thursday:
Last month our city participated in Youth Governance Day, where civic-minded high school students are able to serve as "Mayor for the Day" in cities across Miami-Dade County.

I was honored to host Robert Rojas, a 10th grade student from Miami Lakes Educational Center who served as our "Mayor for the Day."

Mayor Rojas got the behind-the-scenes tour of the city.
Most importantly, he met the dedicated people that make Miami Springs great!

Shout out to @Virtutem_Populo, the student-led non-profit who organizes this event and promotes civic engagement across Miami-Dade County.

Today, some members of our city council and I had the privilege of celebrating senior resident Josefa Azoy's 100th birthday. 🎂
She credits her vibrant energy and longevity to "not letting negative things weigh on her."
Special thanks to Tammy Key, Angie Aguila, and the entire Senior Center staff for honoring Josefa on her special occasion. May God continue to bless her. ♥️

It was my distinct pleasure last week, to havepresented Maximo San Martin with a plaque on behalf of the City Council for earning the esteemed rank of Eagle Scout.

Scouting Troop 334 continues their rich tradition of producing our city's next generation of influential, civic-minded leaders.

Had a great time at the 70s-themed, "Seniors Prom." Shout out to Tammy Key and Angie Aguila at the Miami Springs Adult Community Center, who go above and beyond for our seniors every day!

Honored to have led our city's Memorial Day Ceremony this year.
On a day where we acknowledge and recognize those that paid the ultimate price for our freedom, we honor our fallen heroes and their families.
May we pledge to preserve the ideals they fought for (liberty, justice, and democracy) and commit to living lives that are worthy of their sacrifice.

Thank you to the City of Doral for welcoming us from the City of Miami Springs to preview the incredible new Doral Central Park Community & Aquatic Centers ahead of tomorrow’s grand opening! A beautiful space for the community—congrats on this amazing accomplishment!

This last weekend, our amazing @miamispringsparksandrecreation Department hosted the Miami International Open, which is part of the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation's Championship Series.
Not only was this a prominent event for our city to accommodate, it also provided a platform for our local Jiu-Jitsu talent to compete on a big stage.

The team from @miamispringsjiujitsu brought home 4 gold medals and 3 bronze, Including Professor Italo Goncalves, who won double gold in the black belt master 1 division.

19 year old Dallas Pratt earned gold in the Adult White Belt Division, while Andy Garcia won gold in the Blue Belt Master 1 Division.

Joel Duran (Purple Belt) and Ivan Ruiz (Blue Belt) won Bronze Medals in their respective categories.

A great event that showcased not only the versatility and commitment of our city staff, but also the determination and skill of our local martial artists.

What better way to celebrate National Bike and Roll to School Day, than to ride with the @springviewbikebus behind a police escort.

The Springview Bike Bus, hosts a group ride to Springview Elementary every Friday to help promote the benefits of biking to school and to highlight our community's bike-friendly atmosphere.
