서로 다른 밀도로 응축해온 사유를 토대로 새로운 여정을 시작하는 세 작가에게 따뜻한 격려 부탁드리며 이번 전시에 많은 관심 부탁드립니다.

오는 12월 11일(목), 《open cache》가 오픈합니다. 과거 상업 갤러리였던 공실에서 펼쳐지는 《open cache》는 공실 프로젝트 1회 차에서 발견하고자 했던 '공실의 가능성'을 익숙한 동시에 새로운 방식으로 찾아냅니다.

각각의 참여 주체가 자신의 '캐시(cache)'를 들여다보며 그간 '임시 저장'해두었던 작업을 꺼내보이는 이번 행사는 작가로서 작업함에 있어, 갤러리로서 작업하는 작가를 바라봄에 있어, 스튜디오 및 커뮤니티로서 공동체를 형성하고 연구를 함에 있어 올 한해 세상에 소개하고 싶었던 결과물, 또는 과정물을 전시합니다. 《open cache》는 특정 주제를 중심으로 오랜 준비 기간을 거쳐 완성되는 기획전의 형태를 벗어나, 미술계의 면면을 구성하는 참여자가 주어진 주제에 공감하여 스스로 제안하는 작업과 프로젝트를 위주로 소개하는 일종의 '모음전' 형태를 띠고 있습니다.

오픈 당일인 11일(목)에는 5시부터 10시까지 오프닝 리셉션을 진행할 예정이오니 많은 관심과 방문 부탁드립니다.

We're pleased to present open cache, on view from December 11 (Thurs.), 2025, through January 3 (Sat.), 2026. Set in a currently vacant location--once operated as a commercial gallery--open cache revisits the potential to reinterpret and reinvent an "empty space." Faced with the limitations of the space previously being run as a commercial gallery--open cache soughts to spread* a temporary layer to the space, in a way that is both familiar yet refreshing.

The participants, which includes galleries, artists, a studio, and a community, browse each of their own "cache," revealing works that have been "temporarily stored" over time. These works—whether final outcomes or works-in-progress—represent what each of the participants had hoped to reveal to the world this year, what galleries sought to highlight in their collaborations with artists, and what studios and communities have explored through collective research and practice.

Breaking away from the format of a curated exhibition, often times developed over an advanced period, open cache borrows a more casual format reminiscent of a gathering. Hence, the upcoming presentation introduces self-proposed works and projects by each participant (who contribute to the ecosystem of the Korean art scene) who resonate with the given theme.

On December 11, the opening reception will be held from 5-10

지난 2년 동안 좋은 기회로 은평구 역촌동에 위치한 절의 빈 법당에서 작업을 해왔습니다.
오픈 스튜디오 〈TBD〉는 완결의 방향이 결정되지 않은 작업들을 펼쳐보이고자 마련한 시간입니다.
시작한 시점도, 진행 속도도 제각각인 여러 그림들을 두고, 그간 고민해 온 속도와 주의라는 주제를 돌아보고 싶었습니다.
마감과 마감 사이에 잠시 생긴 틈 속에서 지나친 방향을 다시 생각해보고 이야기 나누고자 합니다.

Hello, this is Jaehyun Kim.
Over the past two years, I’ve been fortunate to work in an unused prayer hall of a temple located in Yeokchon-dong, Eunpyeong-gu. The open studio 〈TBD〉 is an opportunity to unfold works that have not yet reached a defined conclusion. Each piece began at a different time and has developed at its own pace, and through them. I would like to revisit the themes speed and attention that I have studied through the painting. In this pause between deadlines, I hope to reflect on my direction and share thoughts with those who visit.

FIM은 김재현과 오연진의 2인전 《파도가 쉬는 순간》을 2025년 5월 1일부터 6월 7일까지 선보입니다. 전시는 정지된 듯 보이지만 끊임없이 움직이는 흐름에 주목해 일상 속 우리가 쉽게 지나치는 감각과 순간을 다시 바라보게 합니다. 회화와 사진이라는 서로 다른 매체를 통해 두 작가는 사라져가는 기억의 잔상, 빛과 물질이 만들어내는 우연한 형상을 탐색합니다.

FIM presents When the Wave Rests, a two-person exhibition by Jaehyun Kim and Yeonjin Oh, from May 1 to June 7. The exhibition captures the invisible flow that continues beneath the surface and serves as a space where we rediscover the fleeting sensations and moments we easily overlook in daily life. Through the distinct mediums of painting and photography, the two artists trace the afterimages of fading memories and explore the accidental forms born in the intersection of light and matter.

여기 지연되어 이렇다 할 수 없는 시간의 틈에 끼인 리허설이 있다. 리허설이란 의례 완성형을 시행하는데 앞서 청중이 없는 곳에서 내부적인 시선으로 미완성의 것들을 다시 살피는 시간이다. 리허설의 지연은 어쩌면 ‘본 공연’과 무관하기에 비상 상황은 아니다. 대부분의 동시대인은 무대 위의 시간 감각으로 살아가기 때문이다. 하지만 무대 밖 혹은 그 아래 일어나는 일들은 내밀하고 사적이며, 가끔은 미래를 앞당기기도 하거니와 마감 없이 유예되기도 한다. 박수 없는 시간의 반복인 준비는 역량을 온전히 나타내기에 필연적이지만, 내부자들의 암묵적 합의이기에 숭고하기까지 하다. 존재하지만 누구도 목격할 수 없는 시간을 좇는 사람과 기억 속 현전하는 장면을 끊임없이 화면으로 불러오는 사람을 만났다.
