Thank you to everyone who joined us for What You Don’t See Behind the Screen 💚
This workshop created space for important conversations about escapism, screen time, and the emotions that often exist underneath behaviors we may only see on the surface. We explored how stress, pressure, and difficult emotions can sometimes show up through distraction and withdrawal, especially when we don’t always have the words to express what we’re feeling 🖥️
Thank you to our speakers, Hai-Duong Lindeman, LMFT and Nancy Phung-Smith, LMFT, for leading thoughtful conversations around emotional awareness 🎙️
Thank you to our attendees who shared reflections and helped create a supportive environment where these conversations could happen 💭
And a special thank you to our partners Unified Esports League and Innovation High School who helped make this workshop possible! 🤝

AAPI Voices in Mental Health 🧠
In honor of both Mental Health Awareness and AAPI Month, Vietnamese Mental Health would like to highlight mental health professionals and leaders in our community 💚
Trang Phan, M.A., LMFT
As a first-generation Vietnamese American psychotherapist, Trang is passionate about supporting individuals navigating trauma, relational wounds, identity concerns, and longstanding emotional patterns often carried within first-generation and immigrant family systems.
She believes that helping future generations thrive also requires supporting the women and caregivers carrying emotional and cultural responsibilities across generations.
Many first-generation individuals carry unspoken burdens shaped by survival, sacrifice, and adaptation. Healing often requires not only insight, but emotional safety, community, and spaces where people feel understood.
Trang specializes in trauma-focused psychotherapy through an integrative approach incorporating EMDR, somatic and nervous system-informed practices, and depth-oriented healing.
In addition to psychotherapy, she curates non-clinical wellness experiences that support reconnection through restorative, nature-based practices near or in the ocean, including yoga, breathwork, snorkeling, and freediving in collaboration with professional water guides.
Her hope is to create spaces that support both individual healing and collective resilience within our community.
Thank you, Trang, for your compassionate care and contributions to the community. We are proud to partner with you for this initiative! 🤝🏼

Join us for What You Don’t See Behind the Screen, a free community workshop exploring the emotions and experiences that can exist behind screen time, gaming, and escapism 🎮
From the outside, behaviors like gaming, scrolling, or “checking out” can look like distraction or avoidance. But underneath, there may be stress, pressure, loneliness, or emotions that are harder to express out loud.
Together, we’ll explore:
• Healthy coping vs emotional avoidance
• The emotions that can exist behind screen use
• How to respond with curiosity and connection
🗓 Saturday, May 16, 2026
🕓 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
📍 Innovation High School
Conversations led by:
