The Forigin Initiative is bringing The Pilgrim Village Activation Pt. 2 for Motor City Makeover in District 5– this time focusing on The Forigin Neighborhood Coalition and the surrounding neighborhood in Pilgrim Village.

Join us on May 16th as part of District 5 Motor City Makeover Day while we further beautify the Forigin Neighborhood Coalition with @designedbyablackman @detroitdistrict5 @cityofdetroitdon

Here’s what we’re building together:
🟡 Laying ground tarp
🟡 Spreading mulch
🟡 Planting flowers
🟡 Creating seating from logs
🟡 Planting trees
🟡 Doing outreach throughout the neighborhood

This is more than a cleanup — it’s a stamp for the neighborhood for years to come. This is how we build, FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE.

Ted Gloster Jr. moves with a quiet focus that you can feel before he even speaks. There’s an intention behind how he carries himself, shaped by responsibility and a clear sense of what he’s here to build.

Portraits of Black Men: Becoming is a Journey of Stories narrative experience centered on Black men and their stories of becoming, captured through portraiture in moments of presence, deep reflection, and motion.

He doesn’t rush. He pays attention. He learns, adjusts, and keeps moving forward with purpose. What stands out is not just his drive, but his discipline. The kind that comes from choosing growth, even when it requires more of you.

He thinks beyond the moment. There’s a commitment to ownership, to building something real, and to creating pathways that extend beyond his own reach. Nothing about it feels temporary.

You get the sense that this is someone who has spent time with himself. Someone who has made decisions about who he will be and continues to step into that.
