As a long-time events & community organizer, Malzof is also well-known for their public art, projection art/installations and musical output.
Sweet Abyss resident @jmal_malzof has been DJing for a decade, playing their own signature style of transgender dance music. As a life-long music collector, their sound archives go deep. Heavily influenced by IDM, Ambient, experimental music, breaks, sampling, and dance music of all kinds, they are not afraid to make it blend. They see DJing as an extension of all the work they do- to bring people together, to encourage moments of release and joy, and to support people in showing up in their true expressions as resistance against hegemony.
Carrie Sours is a moody & funky record player, producer and event organizer from Cleveland, OH. Currently based in Pittsburgh, PA, Carrie is a crew member of the “Sweet Abyss” event series, showcasing local and international transgender, queer, and esoteric electronic music performances in a relaxed community setting at Bantha Tea Bar. Pulling from a love of sampling and musical lineages, an appreciation for warm and psychedelic dance music sound design, and experiences in queer worldbuilding in the DIY, glamour-free creative environment of the Midwest; her approach to DJing and music sharing encourages moments of personal catharsis on the dance floor. She has co-founded the “Heaven Is In You” and “MAGIC!” event series, and has released music under the ‘Ghost Noises’ and ‘DJ Geauga Lake’ monikers.

Her grooves come from a deep love for house and finding storylines between different genres and musical elements. Blending seamlessly between themes of longing, love, sex and soul, the ceiling for this daring DJ is obsolete - this booming but tender approach to sharing sounds can only be experienced. Her long standing career in music as a digital curator and providing others with music for Film & TV can be heard in this DJ’s understanding of the dancefloor. More recently has she delved into analog vinyl sets, deepening their intimacy with each and every selection. She has played in Madrid, London, Amsterdam, and all over the USA.Niyah also produces music under A Friend of Jackie, a moniker and playground for exploring production.
