Any city that loves cats and has $1 glasses of fresh-squeezed pomegranate juice pretty much has me sold from the off, but Istanbul is, of course, vastly more than that, and @janceedunn and I whirling-dervished ourselves around for a few intoxicating days.

After endless weeks of climatic and psychological permafrost, everything dead and silent, the sun and energy of St.
Vincent felt like a tonic. We brake for all botanical gardens, so it was an absolute delight to visit the one in Kingstown, said to be one of the oldest in the Caribbean (either breadfruit plants brought by Capt. Bligh in 1793). And we reveled in Quency’s tour of the fruit & veg market; where my local supermarket has one mango — called ‘mango’ — Vincy has dozens (Julie, Cotton, Horse, the list goes on). We ate plum rose, genip, sweetsop and a bunch of other things I’ve scarcely heard of.

Like a lot of people of advancing age, I’ve become obsessed with the idea that every year I am losing muscle mass (not that I ever had much to begin with!). And clearly my efforts are still a bit half assed, as I’ve not yet bought enough @repfitnessequipment iron plates to push myself forward in the deadlift. Hence I tossed my pandemic kettlebells on the bar. But any port in a storm, weight is weight, no? N.B. I am at 250 lbs in the slowly evolving process, which the tables tell me is OK for my age and experience (*always filter by age and experience*). My ego though wants the 300 range. Any tips etc let me know!

Perfect day to visit the newly reopened (and reenvisoned) Princeton University Art Museum. With the cold I didn’t dally long for exterior shots of David Adjaye’s design, but the interior was an absolute pleasure — I’d forgotten the scope of Princeton’s collection, and the viewing experience was everything I want in an art museum (contrast this to a frankly dispiriting recent trip to the Louvre). You should really go.
