Tolerance Project Inc.
THE TOLERANCE PROJECT poster show is created to start a conversation about inclusion, which can only begin with a foundation of tolerance.

We are pleased to let you know that on May 18, 2026, the Tolerance Poster Show opened its sixth presentation of posters in Sofia in the foyer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building.
“’Connectivity’ brings together in a single collection selected posters from the highly successful traveling global poster series ‘Tolerance,’ alongside works by artists from around the world participating in the International Theatre Poster Triennial project ‘Contact,’ which has been continuously developing and expanding over the past decade.
Presented together in the foyer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, the posters gain additional meaning and strength, as they remind official institutions of the universal messages of peace, mutual understanding, and respect for the inherent dignity and equal, inalienable rights of all people — principles that form the foundation of freedom and justice in the world, as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.”
The exhibition is the result of a joint project between the State Institute for Culture, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the International Triennial of Stage Poster.
All of our recent Sofia shows were organized by the International Triennial of Stage Poster - Sofia Co-Founder Albena Spasova, and we thank her again for her effort in spreading Tolerance in Bulgaria.

We are pleased to share with you the first announcement of a new Tolerance Poster Show at Berlin Design Week 2026.
The announcement is translated below:
“82 Posters. 82 Languages. One task: to visually translate the word ‘Tolerance’ — in one’s own language, using one’s own means.
The Tolerance Project is an international traveling exhibition founded by Mirko Ilić — illustrator, former Art Director of the New York Times Op-Ed pages, and one of the most influential voices in graphic and poster design worldwide. The posters were created by internationally renowned designers from all over the globe. Since 2017, the exhibition has traveled through more than 50 countries and reached over 700,000 people.
For Berlin Design Week 2026, the Tolerance Poster Show returns to the festival for a second time. 82 selected posters will be on display at Macherei — printed by Lieblingsdrucker Berlin. Political poster culture as a stance, not as decoration. A contribution that takes the festival motto, DESIGN REAL, at its word.”

We are happy to let you know that on May 11, 2026, the Tolerance Poster Show opened in Pljevlja, Montenegro, marking the third presentation of the exhibition in the country. Although our gathering was originally planned for May 9th, Victory Day over Fascism and Europe Day, adverse weather conditions forced us to postpone the opening by two days.
The show was presented at the city square in the center of Pljevlja, where citizens, students, artists, and visitors gathered around messages of tolerance, inclusion, and understanding communicated through the universal language of design.
The creation of the Pljevlja edition of the Tolerance Poster Show was led by Aleksandar Ostojić, Director of the PI Art Gallery “Vitomir Srbljanović,” with support from Srđa Dragović and Flux Design Network. The opening ceremony included speeches by Aleksandar Ostojić and Jelena Bojović, curator of the Yugoslav Museum of Humor and Satire, who also spoke about Mirko Ilić’s important donation of rare international satirical publications, books, and magazines to the museum in Pljevlja.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to bringing the Tolerance Poster Show to Pljevlja, especially Srđa Dragović, without whose help this show could not have been realized.

We are pleased to let you know that on May 1st, the Tolerance Poster Show opened on the terrace of Gallery “Serdika,” located in the heart of one of the most visited markets in Sofia, the Zhenski Pasar or “Women’s Market.”
The Gallery “Serdika” is a contemporary art gallery with an emphasis on socially conscious and youth art. The “Women’s Market,” besides being a lively commercial hub, is also characterized by its multicultural diversity—a meeting point of various social and ethnic groups, ranging from marginalized communities to newly emerging avant-garde gallery spaces. In this sense, it is an environment that fully resonates with the messages of the international poster initiative “Tolerance.” The exhibition can be viewed until July 1, 2026.
The present event marks the fifth presentation in Sofia of different posters from the Tolerance Project’s collection. All these shows were organized by the International Triennial of Stage Poster - Sofia Co-Founder Albena Spasova, and we thank her again for her relentless effort in spreading Tolerance in Bulgaria.

We are pleased to let you know that on April 10th, we hosted the opening reception of the Tolerance Poster Show, featuring exhibits throughout galleries and businesses in Blacksburg, Virginia. The exhibitions are open through the end of April 2026.
The primary installations were at the Blacksburg Museum’s gallery at the Alexander Black House, thanks to Gallery Director Diana Francis; Bird Block Studios, thanks to Rude Graves; Miller Off Main St. Galleries, thanks to Gallery Director Pippi Miller and Jolie Boucher; the Lyric Theater, thanks to Executive Director Seth Davis; and XYZ Art Gallery, thanks to XYZ Student President Caitlin Celio and XYZ Faculty Advisor Amanda Lechner, with artwork installed by students in Meaghan Dee’s Advanced Typography class.
The Tolerance Poster Show was coordinated by Meaghan Dee, but would not have been possible without the tremendous support of the gallery and business owners, as well as her students, who helped curate the show. Rachael Paine also contributed funding toward printing expenses, and Dr. Ann-Marie Knoblauch contributed funding to support the reception.
Businesses around town also displayed posters from the collection, including Benny’s Pizza, Blacksburg Farmer’s Market, Blacksburg no 1, Bollos, Bonnie Charlotte’s Plant Shop, Book Holders, Fringe Benefit, Gillies, Live Wire Tattoo, New River Art & Fiber, Nice Dreams, Sugar Magnolia, and UPS.
Additional activities included screenprinting by Jordan Lingenfelser (design by Max Mohberg) at Bird Block Studios and a student-designed installation at XYZ Galleries (Lexy Altieri, Abigail Bollinger, Sydney Buckler, Zac Claybrook, Shreya Deshpande, Cailin Flatla, Brooke Geller, Maggie Hanlon, Emily Hoppenjans, Tommy Janay, Lucia Lazarte, Kelsey Lee, Nora McMahon, Max Mohberg, Sara Olsen, Anna Seaton, Noah Settle, Indie Viriyakul, Gabrielle Warder, and Will Zabriskie).

We are pleased to let you know that on Thursday, March 26, 2026, we held our second one-day pop-up show in Union Square Park, New York City, featuring over 100 Tolerance Posters. The show is our eighth in New York City since 2022.
Unfortunately, due to strong winds and out of consideration for pedestrians, we had to shorten the show toward the end of the day.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Denise Benmosche, Board Member of the Tolerance Project Inc., and the Benmosche family, who made this show possible.
