From international pop stars to Bollywood moguls, Arijit Singh’s hometown of Jiaganj in Murshidabad has quietly become a surprising creative hub.

This cultural buzz amplified recently when Aamir Khan travelled to Murshidabad days after Arijit announced his retirement from Bollywood playback singing.

Though rumours swirled that Khan wanted to persuade him to reconsider, the visit was tied to their collaboration on the upcoming film Ek Din, for which Arijit recorded the title track during four days of shared creative work in his hometown.

The informal BTS footage shows genuine artistic exchange, kite flying, studio sessions and simple moments that belie usual celebrity PR.

The hometown for one of India’s most celebrated voices has grown into a place where artists are drawn not for glamour but for musical authenticity and community.

Arijit is often praised for his simplicity and seen riding a scooter in his own peace of mind across the city while media argues he has assets worth 300 CR+.

Composers like Salim Merchant have found inspiration there, recording soulful work away from studio pressures and sharing heartfelt moments with Arijit.

Beyond music, Singh’s presence has boosted local pride and community projects, like his affordable restaurant Heshel, which serves meals at minimal prices and draws visitors from across West Bengal.
