What a joy to share these archaeological adventures with you! Thanks to all the the staff, students, volunteers and visionaries that help these stories get from the trenches to the table!

Check out our latest story on the Women of White Pine Mill to learn about the families in the forest that supported Oregon's early lumber industry!

Monty. Our little special garden buddy will soon be transitioning to the next realm with the help of his kind, brave humans.
.
I started volunteering about a year ago at a garden up the street, not really a community garden as no one has individual plots, rather it’s a land trust that the community collectively gardens. So it brings neighbors together in a very accessible way. The food is shared amongst the volunteers, food kitchens, and sold at a Saturday market to help cover the water, tax, and insurance bills.
.
Monty was one of the first kind souls I met there, and loved by everyone (I mean, who can resist those ears!). He loves scritches and people, and despite not being able to use his back legs at all anymore, he will still excitedly wiggle his way over to you to say hello. Monty has been such a light and joy. He will be truly missed. We love you, Monty. 💔

An oldie but a goodie from all the way in 2013 when I was just getting my freelancer wings and an opportunity came up to capture @cafevankleef for their @yelp video with @smartshoot . Interviewing Peter Van Kleef was one of the most hilarious things I’ve ever done; he’s since passed and I love that we got to capture him in his element on video.

“Soils are deep and complex places. Like when I walk around on the soil, I like to think of it like I am walking on the surface of an ocean of land. And that that ocean of land stretches down deep, deep underground and is full of life.”
.
We didn’t have a script for this video, just a rough idea of going on walk in the woods with famous biologist and author on mycelium @merlin.sheldrake.
.
This poetic video is one of favorites I’ve had the pleasure of working on with @opbphoto and the Superabundant team, with some very fun timelapses from @mushpocalypse_media .

Of all the little stories we got to tell about hops, crafting this energetic sequence of the amazing process of flash-freezing hops by the folks over at @breaksidebrews was one of my favorites. Hops are typically pelletized before being added to beer so this is not at all your average brew.

It’s rainy outside but nice and dry in this wood storage shed we made from reclaimed cedar: a pallet from the street and boards from @rebuildingcenter .

As a photographer, I think I may always have a backlog of photos to go through and edit, and I usually do in slow motion (which I remind myself is perfectly ok!). The first few days of our Iceland trip this past fall featured lots of water (like a hot river complete with boardwalk infrastructure, countless waterfalls), sleeping in a prairie with a delirious view of the Aurora the first and only night, and so many Nutella sandwiches so we could maximize nature time and be a lil frugal. We didn’t elope as planned (2020 lol) but we made it there finally. 🧊🏝️

Welcome to earth, baby human. ✨ Dear friends invited me in to capture the very early days of this chapter of life together (2 weeks in). Expansive love is such an incredible thing to see, feel, and capture.

A chronological series of “bump pics” that I asked my mom to send. A big thank you to my mom and all of the moms who have helped raise everyone to be kinder humans. The last photo is of me earthside, since I’m the youngest of four and my mom usually took most of the photos, she only has a few of us when I was the “bump,” and really I was more of a zygote, but that’s just the way it was before camera phones. Love you, mom! ❤️
