It’s the privilege of my life to be elected as Member of Parliament for Macclesfield.

I’m so grateful to everyone who put their trust in me. I promise to work my socks off for all our communities.

Can’t wait to get started!🌹

Great to join Andy Burnham this morning for the launch of his campaign in the Makerfield by election.

Andy has spent years standing up for working people and fighting for the communities he serves. Whether it is improving transport, backing investment or creating more opportunities for people across Greater Manchester, he has shown what Labour can achieve when we focus on delivering for people.

Andy cares deeply about public service and has a proven record of getting things done. I know he would be a powerful voice for Makerfield in Parliament and I am proud to support him.

With this lovely weather, I am pleased to finally get my shades out again. Hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy some sunshine over the bank holiday weekend. 😎🌹

Nine years on from the Manchester Arena terror attack, we remember the 22 innocent lives lost, the survivors and all those whose lives were changed forever.

I have seen first-hand the extraordinary determination of Figen Murray, my constituent, in her tireless campaign to secure Martyn’s Law in memory of her son, Martyn Hett.

From the day I was elected, I have supported Figen’s efforts to make sure this law was delivered, not only to honour Martyn’s memory, but to help keep people safe at venues and events across our country.

Martyn’s Law is a lasting legacy born from unimaginable loss and one that will help save lives.

Thinking today of Martyn, Figen, and every family affected by that terrible attack.

I’ve received a large number of messages from residents about problems with post deliveries in Poynton and the surrounding areas, including Disley and Adlington, particularly over the last few months.

From the cases raised with me so far, these issues appear to be linked to the Bramhall sorting office, and I am continuing to gather evidence on the scale of the problem.

I know how frustrating and worrying this has been, especially when important letters, appointments or documents are delayed or missing. I’ve raised these concerns with Royal Mail on several occasions and have recently requested a meeting with them to press for answers and improvements.

Ahead of that meeting, I want to make sure I have the fullest possible picture of what residents are experiencing. If you’ve been affected by issues with your post and haven’t already been in touch, please email me with details of your experience, including where you live and the problems you’ve faced.

What would an American-style politics, imported by Reform and Farage, mean for our NHS?

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who made this year’s Macclesfield Beer Festival (Maccbeerfest) such a fantastic event. From the organisers to everyone pouring pints, setting up, clearing down, and keeping everything running smoothly, your hard work made the festival what it was.

It was also incredibly moving to see the support for such important causes, especially in memory of Mia Jennings. Mia’s legacy continues to make a real difference across Macclesfield through the amazing fundraising work supporting Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), helping provide potentially life saving heart screening for young people. Seeing the community come together in her memory was genuinely emotional.

It was also brilliant to see support for Macclesfield Boys Boxing Club, another fantastic local group making a real difference in our community. The club gives young people a safe and supportive place to build confidence, discipline, fitness and respect, while helping people of all ages stay active and work towards their goals.

Great to see so many local people supporting the event at Macclesfield Rugby Union FC and backing causes that matter so much to our town.

And of course… the beer was absolutely cracking too 🍻

I recently had the honour to visit our extraordinary local Samaritans in Macclesfield to speak about the vital service they provide in our community and nationwide.

Sometimes referred to as the nation’s 4th emergency service, volunteers answer around 10,000 calls a day across the country, providing confidential support and comfort when you need it most.

The Samaritans also conduct outreach in schools, in prisons, at local events and at railway stations, including Macclesfield Station, to raise awareness of the important work they do.

They are supported by a hugely successful Charity Shop on Pickford Street in the town and welcome volunteer applications in a variety of roles.

If you would like to know more information on how you can support this incredible organisation, please visit the Samaritans website at: Samaritans.Org. Pictured with Tim are Macclesfield Branch Director, Wendy Bateman and Vice Directors, Kathryn Hughes and Nic Rigby.

Great to visit Hurdsfield School and meet with the headteacher, staff and governors to hear more about the fantastic work taking place there.

It was especially lovely to join the school’s celebration assembly and see pupils recognised for their achievements and positive contributions by their teachers. It was a reflection of the warm and supportive atmosphere at the school.

I also enjoyed speaking to pupils about my role as their MP, what it’s like working in Parliament, and representing Macclesfield.

Thank you to everyone at Hurdsfield School for the warm welcome.

Smoking remains one of the UK’s leading causes of preventable death, disability and ill health.

It is also a major driver of the gap in life expectancy between the wealthiest and most deprived communities. By tackling smoking, the Tobacco and Vapes Bill is set to make a meaningful difference to health outcomes across the country.

I was pleased to meet with Cancer Research UK to highlight the strong cross-party support behind this important legislation, which has now received Royal Assent.

Labour have given Cheshire East £2.85 Million to set up a new ‘Experts at Hand’ service.

This means quicker, earlier, easier access to specialist support from educational psychologists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists for Macclesfield children with SEND.
