Yesterday I posted a lengthy overly intellectualised artist statement about my Grapes of Wrath graffiti. Someone commented (@@eveobrochta) that they liked it but really liked the quote I had finished on, the title of a Caravaggio painting,

Love Conquers All.

I stopped and looked at it again and realised that actually that's all that needs to be said at this point in time.

With all that's going on right now with the racist riots and hatred... that's the exactly the kind of message and energy I want to be putting out in the streets.

So last night with @nathanbowenart and @xlvii that's what I did and hopefully will continue doing.

This piece is dedicated to the community cop that I 'power walked' away from last night in Wimbledon

I've painted a 1/1 original artwork on an authentic 1980 £1 note, now live on eBay (link in bio).

This piece was made for the @capturedonwalls 'Notes for Change' charity show in support of @stmungos , a leading UK charity working to end homelessness.

It's professionally framed with museum grade UV70 glass ( by @southseagallery ) and is currently on display at @editart.co.uk in Covent Garden.

All proceeds go directly to St Mungo's.

My little world had a slightly turbulent start to the year with stabbing myself in the eye with a guitar string (sight returned after a harrowing few days and trips to emergency opticians..) and getting arrested for street art (NFA so innocent haha). I don't like to perpetuate the mythology of suffering for art but coincidentally my art is feeling very strong in direction to explore and I am flourishing at least creatively..

This piece is called 'Tak in Eden' which is part of my more in depth body of work that I am hoping to put in a show in the future..

It's named after my first toy, a little pink snake called Tak... yes.. a bit weird I guess... graffed up snakes, apples made of amethyst and blue butterflies... Will leave my therapist to figure out what this one means haha.

Reminded me that it was not so long ago that I first started painting alone around London cos' I didn't know anyone. Huge thank you to peeps like WOM and too many others to name for being so warm and embracing to a random lonely Painter weirdo. It's been life changing.

OUT NOW

'Duke of Lovington' Inspired by a street art trip I took a little while back across Glasgow, Edinburgh and Rutherglen (obviously).

I love the way the famous Glasweggian statue embodies historic pomp clashing with a modern sense of fun and anarchy.

The original has sold now but the super limited edition 1/14 handfinished, numbered and signed prints are available on my website www.sampickettartist.com or gimme a shout!

A few prints were already preordered and 1 is fittingly going to @grandadsteve61 for the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity @gch_charityfor an auction later in the year.

I created this image with a load of methodically researched AI prompts, a close eye on what's fashionable and the referencing 'the streets'.. just kidding, did it with paint, poor mental health and 10,000+ hours...

This painting is called Mortal, it came from a bad place but that's ok, nothing is permanent and every day is a new chance. ('Easy to f******g say in hindsight' past me is shouting)

I took the reference photo myself in a dark bathroomwith my phone and a cheap torch. This is a direction I'd like to explore more so open to commisions/collaborations/models/ideas... being the madness, this is a safe space but please bear in mind... I am mad.

It's been the question on everyone's lips, the online forums have spewed forth a dozen wild conspiracy theories... we someone asked me in the pub once...

It's not necessarily a cat however this was one of the first commisions I received this year! Great fun to do, crossing my street character with Brian the cat from Barry, Wales haha HUGE thank you to the lovely person who reached out with the wacky idea!
