What is a resonator? In music, it’s a guitar designed with metal cones inside the body to make the instrument louder and brighter before electric amplification existed. At The Rhapsody Project, a Resonator is a supporter who helps amplify the voices, talents, and futures of young people. Through their monthly support, these “Rhapsody Resonators” help us to keep heritage, music education, and opportunities to explore the Arts within reach for young people in the Greater Seattle area. Highlight from last month’s 6th Annual Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival with @briar.sings

Briar is a singer of vintage jazz, blues and original music. By blending a powerful voice with stories about the history and origins of her music, she shines a light on singers and tales that have been forgotten by the country that created them. Raised in the small community of Chimacum, Washington, Briar uses her music to help explore her unique background as a Black woman from the rural Pacific Northwest.
She also teaches music for Seattle JazzEd, is a leader of the Rhapsody Project, and is currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science from Olympic University.

Please reach out if you would like our house band (a combination of our students and staff and board members) to perform at your school or community center and celebrate Juneteenth this year!
Also, please remember that every month is Black History Month, because without Black people, our nation's music would be totally unrecognizable.
