It's that time of year again! MOCA GA’s 2026/2027 Working Artist Project (WAP) application is OPEN! Apply by Sunday, June 1!

The Working Artist Project (WAP) is a year-long fellowship program facilitated by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA). Created to champion established visual artists of merit residing in the Atlanta metropolitan region, WAP provides support, visibility, and resources to advance artistic practices.

The three WAP Fellow exhibitions will be hosted at our brand-new facility in West Midtown!

This year’s WAP guest curator is Evan Garza! Garza is a global contemporary art scholar, queer art historian, and Curator at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts. Recent honors include a Fulbright Scholarship at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) and grants from Teiger Foundation and The Andy Warhol Foundation. Garza has held curatorial and institutional leadership roles at the Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University, the Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas, and School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (now SMFA at Tufts). Garza was cofounder of Fire Island Artist Residency (FIAR), a New York nonprofit and the first residency program in the world exclusively for LGBTQIA2S+ artists. They earned their M.A. from the Williams Graduate Program in the History of Art at the Clark Art Institute.

Portrait of Evan Garza by Gillian Heck.

WAP is supported through grants from the Charles Loridans Foundation, The Antinori Foundation, the PNC Foundation, and the Molly Blank Fund of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation.

It’s been just over a year since we broke ground on MOCA GA’s new building, and we’re excited to share a little sneak peek of how far we’ve come.

Construction is in the home stretch, with major structural work complete, interiors taking shape, and our vision for this new home becoming clearer every day. 🎉🏗️

We can’t wait to open the doors and invite you into a space that gives us room to grow, experiment, and connect in new ways. We’re thrilled to be neighbors with Goat Farm and to be part of a growing creative campus and community.

More sneak peeks coming soon. 👀

This week is the final week of Runaway Universe by 2024/2025 Working Artist Project Fellow Corrine Colarusso and the final week we’ll be welcoming the public to our longtime home at 75 Bennett Street.

We invite you to visit us one more time and experience the exhibition before it closes! After the exhibition closes, MOCA GA will pause public operations for a few months as we prepare to move into our new home at 1260 Foster Street, next to the Goat Farm Campus. This transition will allow us to build new opportunities for exhibitions, programs, and community engagegment

Thank you for your continued support and belief in our mission. We can’t wait to welcome you back soon and begin our next chapter!

If you missed Corrine Colarusso’s artist talk you can watch it online! Visit our website or the link in our bio. Runaway Universe is on view through January 10, 2026.

From the shaggy landscape of the Okefenokee Swamp to her ordinary back yard, Corrine Colarusso has used landscape and observations of weather conditions, to map cycles of the day and seasons as parralel worlds to our inner selves. Her work connects us to the patterns and signals found within the language of rocks, reeds and vistas that glow. Like adventures in time passing, these restless clusters of reeds and grasses, towers of air and twilight, provide an arena for the meandering gaze, a channel to the everyday spectacular and a way to know the fugitive world.
