Honored to share that The Africa Centre has been recognised at the Civic Trust Awards as a Highly Commended project.

This milestone is a testament to our vision of creating a dynamic, inclusive space that celebrates African and diaspora culture, community, and connection. We are proud of what this space represents—and of everyone who has helped bring it to life.

As we celebrate this achievement, we are also reminded that spaces like this need ongoing support to thrive. If you believe in the importance of keeping The Africa Centre’s doors open for future generations, we invite you to support us.

𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐱 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞
In this video, 𝐕𝐞𝐞 (𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲/𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦), the Programme Lead, speaks with clarity and passion about the meaning of 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐮𝐥𝐚, highlighting the 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 and sharing an inspiring vision for the future of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞.

𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 was honoured to take part in the programme’s inaugural events in 2023. We are proud to continue this meaningful collaboration in future seasons, as we make 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 our home with the support of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞.

The past two years have been incredibly challenging for our organisation and our community in the United Kingdom. We have witnessed the 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝-𝐰𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬, alongside increasing 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and persistent attacks across media and everyday life. Despite this, we remain 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭, resilient, and committed to advocating for and uplifting our diverse communities.

Join us for our first community event of the year, bringing together LGBTIQ+ community members for gentle, honest conversations about faith, health, and healing.

This in-person event will explore how spirituality and personal belief shape experiences of illness, resilience, fear, and hope. While faith can offer comfort and meaning for some, it can also be linked to exclusion or harm for others. Together, we’ll hold space for these complexities and reflect on the role spirituality can play in healing.

👥 Who is this for?
- LGBTIQ+ people affected by illness, and their loved ones
- Healthcare professionals
- Faith leaders
- Community organisations
- Everyone in the community who is interested in listening and learning more

📌 Location
The Africa Centre
66 Great Suffolk Street
London SE1 0BL

🕚 Date and time
26th February, 2026
6pm
