UMI instantly pulled me back to @carriemaeweems Kitchen Table series. The kitchen table as a site of care, ritual, and Black intimacy. Retwisting locs. Holding space. Keeping it simple. This one was a joy to make. Honored to put my visual language on a song that carries so much feeling, as well as pay respect to an artist and photo series that impacted me in the early art school days.
