My whole concert photography journey 💕 plus an introduction!

It’s been 4 years to this day since I’ve done an introduction post. So much has changed, so it was time to do a re introduction for those met recently!

I think it’s crazy looking back five years ago, and seeing where I was at then vs where I’m at today. It’s always funny bc the moment feels so big, but looking back, you see it as more of a chain of events that shaped your future. Just in the moment, you didn’t see how. I can’t wait to see where the future is going to go!

Yesterday, I attended New York City’s Pepero Day Celebration ❤️

Pepero Day is an unofficial Korean holiday where people exchange Pepero snacks in an act of friendship & love. It falls on 11/11 because the numbers look like Pepero sticks, which is also the United States’ Veterans Day.

The day started off with a Veteran’s Day ceremony, honoring soldiers that fought in war. The New Jersey Children’s Choir sang both the American and Korean national anthems, along with the song “Golden” from Kpop Demon Hunters. Veterans shared their own stories of war and the special friendship, respect and gratitude between America and South Korea.

The gates were opened, and passersby’s were able to go to several booths. One featured samplings of Pepero and a photobooth. One had a traditional calligrapher, who wrote your name in Korean on a bookmark for you to take home. There were giveaways, so many free boxes of Pepero, and exclusive merch.

Pepero partnered with Stray Kids, my all time favorite Kpop group, for Pepero Day. While they weren’t physically present, their faces were all over the boxes and merchandise, signage, and there were spots to take photos with cardboard cutouts.

The day was long, but jam packed with activities. Besides the booths, there were Squid Games inspired games, and Pepero characters to take photos with. Local Kpop dance groups performed dances to Stray Kids songs, on theme with the event, as well as some other songs in the scene. I spoke to a few people as they passed by, just curious about the event and free snacks, and they stayed to watch the dance events. Hours after the opening of the celebration, Pepero hosted a Kpop Random Dance Play, an event where a dj plays random clips of songs and if the crowd knows the dance, they hop in the middle like a flash mob. It was one of the most fun parts of the day! There were so many talented dancers, and they had so much fun dancing with strangers, all united in knowing and learning the choreography.

I’m so glad I went! It was nice to experience the music and dances, win free snacks and learn more about the Korean and Kpop cultures. Everyone was so kind. ❤️

I got to interview and photograph my absolute best friend, figure skater and YouTuber @rachel.liza. What an honor to learn her story and spotlight her work.
🔗 sydneth.com/articles

Rachel is an insanely hard worker, one of the most driven and passionate people I know when it comes to making your dreams come true. I’ve been able to watch her grow from her very first video, and it’s amazing to see the beautiful community that’s come out of her videos and tells the most raw stories showcasing REAL life.

Check out the interview, and pics from our shoot!!! We took the photos at Rachel’s home ice at literally 3am. It was a memory for sureee.

HUGE humongous amazingly big shoutout to the lovely Chelsea Joynes @cj_icewear_designs for the incredible dress. She poured HOURS into this one-of-a-kind customized dress, from the colors to the sparkles and flowers. I’m stunned by the results but honestly the whole process has been amazing to see. If you need her for any bedazzling or color work like this, please please please hit her up. 💕

Hair and photos by me :) makeup and skating (duh) by Rachel and I. We’re so happy with these photos… kinda want to do another one soon, but may have to wait a bit bc iykyk (read the article!!!!) :)))

If you need her for any bedazzling or color work like this, please please please hit her up. 💕
