• The Lovers
(this is an answer to my previous reel)

While exploring dualistic thinking for my master’s thesis, I’ve come across the dualistic pair of the moon and the sun. It’s interesting how we like to gender these two celestial bodies and project ourselves into them. Throughout history, the moon and the sun have symbolically represented the relationship between the sexes.

Interestingly, the moon was first “subordinated” during the time of the pre-Socratics in ancient Greece, when it was assigned a dependent relationship to the light of the sun. Before that, this was not taken for granted.

Although nowadays we often say that the sun represents the masculine and the moon the feminine, this has not always been the case. These symbols are not absolute – they are polyvalent and fluid. In some cultures, the sun was the wife of the moon, while in others, they were depicted as hermaphrodites. 🌓

• Special Occasion

A while ago, while visiting my grandparents, I noticed this tea set in their display cabinet. It had been sitting there untouched for 50 years, ever since their wedding. They always felt it was simply “too good” for any ordinary occasion, so it remained behind the glass.

Recently, my grandma decided to pass it on to me.

There’s something delicate about giving new life to an object that carries so much meaning. One of the ways I’m trying to do that is by incorporating the tea set into my creative process - as a small gesture of gratitude. 🫖

Besides that, I think it’s nice to show what these two characters are up to after a year and a half.

• On Virtual Gaze

My favorite computer game, as long as I can remember, was dressing up dolls and building avatars.
I didn’t approach Instagram much differently ◦
it became a space of curation,
of assembling things I’m drawn to,
of creating a character that comes from me,
and at the same time is and isn’t me.

But no matter how playful my approach to creation was,
I saw how subtly the virtual gaze of others begins to seep into my identity.

The gaze freezes you into an image, brings you to a close.
The boundaries between myself and the gaze
are not as sharp as I thought.

So I pulled back ◦
into posting less,
into more private exploration,
which may become my work, or may not.

Still, the same question keeps returning ◦
how to remain visible
without becoming fixed.

How to not lose the work ◦
or myself ◦
in what is expected.

And to remain an open,
shifting form.

• The Lovers No. 2

Don’t worry, the moon hasn’t replaced her first lover (the sun); she has allowed herself an exploration. ⛲️

• ✨Choose your water being - 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝓁𝒶𝓇𝓋 - and see what it reveals about your future ✨

𝓪) Your playful awkwardness simply widens your sense of what human existence can be.
𝓫) Dissolve a little - you’ll feel the world more clearly that way.
𝓬) Return loops will reveal what you once missed.
𝓭) Your motion will come from floating, not effort.
𝓮) Something new is forming quietly in you before it breaks the surface.
𝓯) What’s forming needs quiet incubation.
𝓰) Softness becomes your way forward - a permeability that reshapes the path.
𝓱) You’re nearing a molt; an old layer loosens and slips away.
𝓲) Days of rest await you in your safest environment.
𝓳) Expect a swell in love or fertility of some form.
𝓴) Your time stretches; slowness is hot.
𝓵) It’s time to be led by the body alone.
𝓶) Your spikes can relax.
𝓷) Your funky little self is warming up to dance.
𝓸) Your brain is not rotting, you are just resting.

I think most of us love a glimpse into the future - so why shouldn’t a futuristic larv be the one to reveal it. 🪱

These larvs were created in collaboration with @eva_mulej , who invited me to visualize her first solo music release. Thank you Oka 🪼

• Postcards from Dreams, No. 1 🐚
(Or where I would like to live)

Sometimes, when I realize that I’m dreaming, I try to record the scene with my phone, hoping to show it to my friends once I’m awake. Sadly, I always forget that the phone won’t survive the transition to wakefulness.

Špela's book is without a doubt the most emotionally intense work I have ever had the honor of illustrating.

Here are a few images from the process of its creation. In image 5, you can see a detail from Frida Kahlo’s The Two Fridas, which served as the main inspiration. And in the final image, you can spot my little assistant.
