A snippet from @negusmelodysound in session last Friday at @kuumbabristol playing alongside @vedic_roots for a night of deep Roots & Culture!For those that don’t know, I was a member of Negus Melody from its very beginnings and even before when Ras Addis, Ras Kama and I were known as the Roots Spot crew.A trio that began in the late 90’s as a pirate radio show until we also took the vibes into the dancehall.Kama had always had the idea to call the sound Negus Melody so when we joined forces with Levi who had built the sound, that’s what we called it.We played Channel One, Iration Steppas, and King Earthquake to name just a few.For me, as a youth, this experience gave me so much inspiration and vibes.Trodding among the deepest Nyahbinghi Rasta people, guided by our elder Ras Bandele Selassie and linking with idrens such as Ras Umi (who also later joined the sound), Lidj Xylon, Ras Natural, Ras Iyah, Afrikan Simba, Dub Judah and many more.Dub hunting missions to various studios in London.Reaching sessions together; Aba at Imperial Gardens and Brixton Rec plus of course we’d follow Shaka around the entire country.Around 2006 I had to make the hard decision to leave the sound and further my venture with Dubkasm which I’d started with Digistep way before.This was always an amicable departure and I give nuff thanks for this chapter in my life.This history is why it was such a a joy to see Negus Melody in session again (now being run solely by Ras Kama) especially with longtime bredrin Aqua Livi on microphone duties.Big up @isaac.aylward for making the session happen.As I used to say on the mic: “Negus Melody with the musical remedy!” Keep up the works Kama.Blessed Love! 🔥🔈

Talking of your run; I remember you telling me the story of how mentally everytime you’d get to the part of the cycle track that I live by you’d mark it in your head as “ah Stryda’s yard” knowing you’d reached a certain point.Something I always think of when I’m nearing the same spot.
