Dave Ryan received plenty of warm wishes during his last two shifts on the KDWB-FM airwaves. “The Dave Ryan Show,” which ended Friday after 33 years on the air, making it one of the longest-running radio shows in Twin Cities’ history.

Rescuers bought 1,500 beagles from Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin, one of the nation’s largest breeders of beagles for use in medical research and drug testing.

Ridglan beagles have been taken in by a number of Minnesota rescues, including @ruffstartrescuemn and the @animalhumanemn. More than two dozen beagles arrived at @thebond_between — formerly Secondhand Hounds — were back on Monday to be spayed and neutered.

The first of the adoptable Ridglan beagles began popping up on the Bond Between site Tuesday morning.

🌀🍻 ONE MORE WHIRL: Ahead of one of its biggest and most festive weekends of the year, Bauhaus Brew Labs is making a major-bummer of an announcement: Its popular northeast Minneapolis brewery will close at the end of June.

“Despite pulling every lever available to us, the financial headwinds have proven to be insurmountable,” the Bauhaus team posted on social media Thursday ahead of Friday’s kickoff to Art-A-Whirl.

“We have made the very difficult and heartbreaking decision to close our doors.”

Opened in 2014 near the start of Minnesota’s craft-beer boom, Bauhaus quickly made a name for itself with its Wonderstuff pilsner and other accessible German-style beers — and with one of the biggest and coolest taprooms in the Twin Cities. The brewery was set in a former industrial warehouse, the Crown Iron Works building at 1315 NE. Tyler St., a 1920s-era facility used for airplane parts during World War II.

Bauhaus’ principal owner Matt Schwandt co-founded the brewery with family members, including his musician brothers Mike and Mark Schwandt of the rock band White Light Riot. They kept up a familial vibe for more than 12 years and became a hub for live music during Art-A-Whirl, the annual neighborhood arts crawl that returns to northeast Minneapolis for its 31st year May 15-17.

NEW VENUE ABOUT TO DROP: Last week, Live Nation announced a $20 opening-night party at Mystic Lake Amphitheater on June 20 featuring an all-local lineup with Motion City Soundtrack, Ber and a headliner to be announced — an inexpensive and low-key way of showing off the new place. That’s ahead of the first two higher-buck concerts with rap-rocker MGK on June 22 and summer jammers the Dave Matthews Band on June 23.

Other acts among the 38 concerts so far confirmed for the venue’s inaugural year include: a lot of classic rockers, such as the reunited Guess Who (June 25), Bob Dylan (July 6), John Mellencamp (July 14), Guns N’ Roses (Aug. 8) and Santana with the Doobie Brothers (Aug. 27); country heroes Chris Stapleton (July 29-30) and Willie Nelson (Aug. 19); ’90s and ’00s-era hitmakers the Black Crowes (July 28), Mumford & Sons (July 31), Goo Goo Dolls (Aug. 4) and Train (Aug. 9); a little hip-hop and R&B with Lil Wayne (July 18), Ne-Yo and Akon (Aug. 5) and the Wu Tang Clan (Sept. 1); and even a yacht-rock dream bill with Toto and Christopher Cross (Aug. 26). The only female headliners are Hillary Duff (July 25) and Kesha (Aug. 3).

Twin Cities radio legend Dave Ryan is retiring after 33 years on the air at KDWB. The host announced his last day at the station will be May 22. A station representative confirmed Ryan’s retirement.

“Dave Ryan is a Twin Cities institution and one of the best to ever do it,” said Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeart Radio Rich Davis. “He connected with listeners in a way that can’t be manufactured. His influence helped shape KDWB and the lives of countless listeners who grew up with him.”

The raspberry Danish latte — made with raspberry syrup, milk, a double shot of espresso and a cream cheese cold foam — was featured in one of Little Joy Coffee’s “DIY or Buy” videos, a recurring series that shows how a drink is made and considers whether it is worth the trouble to make at home.

But this latte video was different.

Little Joy posted the recipe scaled for coffee shops and invited others to use it, tracking its reach with pins on a map. There are now hundreds of shops worldwide making the drink — and the map has nearly 4 million views.

The video itself has been viewed almost a million times. The shop’s Instagram following shot up by nearly 50,000 followers. And somewhere along the way, Little Joy Coffee went from a small-town cafe to a full-fledged production studio with global reach.

NEW: After a string of expansions for their fast-casual Saturday Dumpling Co. brand, owners Peter Bian and Linda Cao are launching an entirely new restaurant and bar in downtown Minneapolis.

This fall, look for Jujube — their first full-service concept, which will explore the intersection of Texas barbecue and Asian cuisine.

And they’ve hired a Texan to do help them do it. Chef Jake Johnson, aka “Texas Jake,” has cooked over live fire at Animales Barbeque Co., the Bachelor Farmer, Estelle, Northern Fires, Kim’s and Black Duck.

“We think there’s some magic to be found by bringing the deep traditions of Texas barbecue and smoke into the world of Asian flavors,” Bian said in a statement. “Not many chefs are playing in the space between Texas barbecue and Asian cuisine — especially this far north.”

Bian said the inspiration came from SDC’s brisket breakfast burritos, which got an enthusiastic response from customers.
