As we enter the last month of our centenary year, we'd like to take you back to the warmth of the summer when we linked all five of our sites with a centenary garden party.

This year’s celebrations have given us a moment to reflect on how we’ve continued to honour and build on Dame Monica Wills’ original vision to create communities where older people flourish. As our centenary year comes to a close, we look forward with pride and optimism to the next 100 years. 🎉

This weekend, we were thrilled to host HopsFest, our very own mini festival at Cote Lane to celebrate the launch of our centenary beer, Hundred Not Out!

This project is a collaboration with @aliveactivities and supported this year by local brewer, @wiperandtrue, to mark 100 years of St Monica Trust.

From our residents planting, growing and harvesting the hops, to visiting local breweries and joining activity workshops to help design, name and market the beer, it’s been a joyful journey that’s brought residents from across our villages and care homes together.

A big thank you to everyone who has contributed to making the beer a reality, including @aliveactivities and @wiperandtrue, plus so many of our residents and their families, colleagues and volunteers.

It was fantastic to see residents from across our sites coming together on Saturday to taste their beer for the first time. Here’s to the next 100 years! 🍻

🌷 Residents of Garden House care home are discovering a wonderful new way to explore the gardens of Cote Lane 🌷

A brand-new trishaw has arrived at Garden House, and it’s already become one of the most talked about additions to daily life. Led by Simon, our enthusiastic Well-Being Coordinator, residents have been taking to the paths and enjoying the fresh air, open skies, and beauty of the surrounding gardens in a whole new way.

There’s something truly special about watching people experience familiar surroundings from a new perspective. 🚲

✨ We’re delighted to share the incredible difference being made for older people through the Age Advantage project, delivered by HUB Weston CIC. ✨

This project was funded through our Volunteering and Employment for Older People Fund, which supports the creation of communities where older people are valued, supported, and empowered to lead full purposeful lives.

In just one year, the project has supported 97 people aged 55+ to reconnect with their community - with 27 going on to volunteer and 12 moving into paid employment.

Through social, creative, physical and skills-based sessions, the project has helped older people rebuild confidence, find new purpose, reconnect with their community, and explore volunteering and employment later in life.

A huge thank you to everyone at HUB Weston CIC, for your incredible work, and for welcoming one of our team to a recent session. We are excited to see what comes next.

Many people find it hard to talk about death and it’s common to bottle up our feelings. But if we don’t talk openly about death, dying and bereavement, it can be so much harder to cope when we experience it.
