CP2: St Louis Coalition To Protect Cyclists & Pedestrians
STL Bike Ped Coalition that is imagining a safer St Louis through community-driven, visionary solutions to improve safety for cyclists & pedestrians!

During our Gravois Walk Audit last July, residents repeatedly identified Gravois and Potomac as a difficult and unsafe intersection. You can see their direct quotes reflected in this post.
Walk audit attendees also documented concerns included missing crossings, drivers failing to yield, long crossing distances, and the lack of a safe crossing to reach Schnucks.
Logan Jackson died after a driver hit him here in June 2024. Pierre "PJ" Leech was killed here on May 29, 2026.
How many more people need to be hurt before this intersection is made safer?

We’re heartbroken to share that another pedestrian has lost his life on Gravois. Last night, around 10:30 pm, 27 year old Pierre Leech was crossing Gravois at Potomac when he was hit by multiple vehicles. The first driver fled the scene. Pierre later died at the hospital.
This intersection has repeatedly proven one of the most dangerous along Gravois, and multiple drivers have hit pedestrians and injured cyclists in this area.
Already tributes are coming in from friends and family of Pierre Leech, reminding us of how many people every single traffic death harms. A community is grieving. Our thoughts are with Pierre’s loved ones and we hope that no other family has to suffer a loss along Gravois.

A full bike rack is always a sign of good times. Thanks to everyone who came out to our May happy hour at @thecivillife. Should we make this a regular thing?

The next public engagement opportunity for Gravois has been scheduled! Please mark your calendars because we’ve been told this meeting is crucial.
From @modot_stl: MoDOT and the City of St. Louis have begun the design work on Gravois and need to hear feedback on some initial choices. The public meeting will present initial thoughts for where vehicle lanes could be reduced and how to simplify many of the five- and six- intersections
Help shape Gravois into a safer corridor and join us!

In honor of Bike Month, here’s a moment of cyclist joy. When we build infrastructure like bike lanes, it means the whole family can enjoy cycling together. St. Louis talks about lot about how to keep children in the city and one of the best ways is to design a city that includes them. Safe streets benefit us all.
And a special shoutout to good helmet use here, including some very adorable designs. Thanks to our CP2 member who shared photos from this ride!

Tuesday, May 19th is our rescheduled virtual meeting for the month. We hope you can join us!
Our agenda is going to include announcements, CP2 news including some new additions to our CP2 core group, community updates, and some community outreach plans. Then we have a really exciting interactive strategy session planned that we would love your contributions to. 💙💛❤️
Our virtual meetings are a great low-pressure way to start advocating for pedestrians and cyclists and address safety issues that affect vulnerable road users. Feel free to log in and listen or jump right in and be part of the group.

We ❤️ our bike bus crew! Here’s a shot from our South city line as they headed to city hall today for National Bike to Work Day. We always have a great time and love it when new people join. Remember, we go on 3rd Fridays so save the date for next month’s ride on June 19th!

We’re heartbroken to be sharing another post of loss. On Sunday evening, neighbors alerted us to another pedestrian death on Gravois at Allen. Neighbors and advocates have raised concerns about this area for months, and just last month we’d strategized with folks on how this specific intersection could be made safer. Whatever changes may eventually come to Gravois will be too late for this person who tragically lost their life here.
We’re once again left waiting for a victim’s name as the investigation continues. So far all three pedestrians who died in St. Louis City have remained unidentified by police.

This Friday, May 15, we’re riding to City Hall for Bike to Work Day, or as Trailnet so helpfully calls it, Bike to Work (Or Wherever) Day.
Our monthly bike bus is more than just a commute. We show up each month to remind folks what’s possible when people have safe, connected ways to move through the city together. This month has also been a hard one for our community, with multiple cyclist and pedestrian deaths across St. Louis. We ride carrying that grief alongside our continued call for safer streets, safe routes to work, and a city that works for all of us.
As we gather at City Hall, we also want to acknowledge that many St. Louisans will also be heading there to honor the one-year anniversary of the tornado that changed so many lives across our city. We’re thinking about everything St. Louis lost: people, homes, businesses, stability, and entire communities forever changed. A year later, recovery is still ongoing, and many neighborhoods are still rebuilding and needing support.
Whether you’re joining the ride, riding to work, attending the rally, or all of the above, we hope Friday is a reminder that STL is strongest when its people show up for each other.
Check the slides for our regular routes and start times or meet us at City Hall at 9 am. We’re currently seeking volunteers to help us develop and lead new routes.
