✨ Haydock Library is back β€” and more inclusive than ever! ✨

Take a walkthrough of our newly refurbished SEND‑inclusive community space, created through true co‑production with children and young people with SEND, library staff, and partners including Listen 4 Change and BuzzHub.

Thanks to Arts Council England and the Libraries Improvement Fund, we’ve transformed the library into a sensory‑friendly space for everyone.

Huge thanks to Dr Emily Peasgood Studios Ltd, architect Ben Allen, and their brilliant creative team for leading this inspiring design journey.

Also - a big thanks to Designed Bespoke Joinery and Parklands for their work on the construction and decorating of the space.

πŸŽ₯ Take a walkthrough with us and discover the new Haydock Libraryβ€”a welcoming space where everyone can feel comfortable, supported, and inspired.

@sthelenscouncil National Smile Month – led by the @oralhealthfoundation – is celebrating its 50th year πŸŽ‰

Running from 11 May to 11 June, the campaign is all about raising awareness of good oral health and helping people build simple daily habits like brushing twice a day, cutting down on sugar, and visiting the dentist regularly.

Over the next few weeks, St Helens Wellbeing Service, commissioned by our Public Health team, is out in the community supporting families through the All Together Smiling supervised toothbrushing programme.

πŸͺ₯ The programme is a three-year, evidence-based initiative funded by @nhscandm, supporting children aged 2 to 7 years to develop healthy brushing habits from an early age.

πŸ‘ The impact locally has been fantastic:

β€’ 94% of settings are trained and delivering supervised toothbrushing sessions

β€’ 2,904 children across St Helens are taking part

Even better, St Helens Borough has the highest percentage of settings and children engaged in the programme – a brilliant achievement!

By working together, we’re helping children get the best possible start with their oral health and building habits that last a lifetime.

Haydock Library had the pleasure of welcoming Ms Bedgood and her wonderfully creative and inspiring SEND students from @rainford_high yesterday!

Together, they created beautiful collage pieces that will form part of the Giant Miners’ Banner we’ll be bringing to life next week.

As Local and Community History Month comes to a close, Haydock Library is inviting the community to help create our very own Giant Miner’s Banner, inspired by the Northwest Miners Heritage Association .

It’s a fantastic opportunity for everyone to celebrate our shared heritage β€” so be sure to pop in next week and add your contribution!

"One of the best things I've read on the psychological horrors of private renting, and what damp, overpriced flats can do to our emotional lives. Hilarious, horrifying, truly original. I loved it." - OisΓn McKenna

Áine should be feeling happy with her life. She’s just moved in with Elliot. Their new flat is in an affluent neighbourhood, surrounded by bakeries, yoga studios and organic vegetable shops. They even have a garden. And yet, from the moment they move in, Áine can't shake the sense that there's something not quite right about the place...

The longer Áine spends inside the flat - pretending to work from home; dissecting messages from the friends whose lives seem to have moved on without her - the less it feels like home. And as Áine fixates on the cracks in the ceiling, it becomes harder to ignore the cracks in her relationship with Elliott...

Have you read I Want To Go Home But I'm Already There by Róisín Lanigan yet? 🏠
