A few days ago I was chatting with a LMPB student about how my illustration process is less efficient than ever but that doesn't bother me because it's also the most fun ever.

I used to illustrate entirely digital in Photoshop but these days I spend a lot of time drawing and painting on paper, then scanning and editing the elements before assembling and finishing in Photoshop.

If you're a commercial illustrator, yeah you need a process that isn't so time consuming you end up earning pennies on the hour, but don't let efficiency smother the joy of making art either. There's a happy middle. You just gotta find it.

But I'm on the other side of it now, so if you need me you'll find me tucked away in a quiet corner with a book and some tea, until the next busy burst begins.
