What a journey!A passion filled seed, to a European search tour, a kick off on the precipice of the pandemic in February 2020, hard work and love by so many with beautiful growth bumps along the road, an inaugural parade, to this glorious day.
Calder Gardens is a place where art, architecture, and nature meet. In this unique vessel where Calder’s sculptures shift with time and space, in dialogue with gardens by Piet Oudolf (@pietoudolf) and design by Herzog & de Meuron (@herzogdemeuron).
Gratitude to Alexander S.C. Rower, Joe Neubauer, Marsha Perelman, Aileen Roberts, Thom Collins, the Calder Foundation and the entire @caldergardens Team for the front row view being a part of the incredible creative process and journey.
Now the doors are open to the world to experience this oasis that invites introspection, interpretation and nurtures human connection.

In a world where we are blessed with so many things I am deeply grateful and filled with joy to do what I love every day.
2024 was a milestone year in all dimensions including celebrating twenty years of my Studio and forging deeper dialogues with my heritage and sharing my distinct voice for projects in my beloved Japan.
As I look forward to turning 21 you can be certain I will continue to pour my heart into every single detail creating extraordinary projects while enjoying some birth year bubbles!
Sending love for a 2025 filled with memories and experiences that continue to bring you joy and empower you to climb mountains. ✨

My ability to understand my dual cultures more vividly is due to a unique upbringing and resonance with Japan—seeing Japan both from afar and from within as a lens to the world. It is about understanding a Japan-ness that evokes a sensation beyond the object, place, or moment.
When I first visited the Calders’ home in Roxbury, Connecticut, nearly twenty years ago, I was struck by the underlying sensation of Japan-ness. This energy of their intention in the simple intuitive details that I felt in the encounters with everyday objects in the house and throughout the property has impacted the way I see and feel, and ultimately, my “effet du japonais.”
Calder: Un effet du japonais explores historical and psychic threads that link Calder’s work and Japan. The exhibition plan utilizes the 3:4:5 triangle geometry as a device to organize the architecture of the space as a reference to Japanese architecture, materials, and details. Here the triangle is a mechanism, a formal unit that determines other dimensions, much like the tatami mat standards within a teahouse. Traditional Japanese materials—wood, paper, plaster—enhance this pause and absence, adding a tactile human quality further defined by the pavilion’s ceilings, clear planes of light in the form of illuminated zigzag overhanging eaves.
Calder never visited Japan, but with the opportunity to consider his work both looking from inside Japan outward and from outside in I discovered how centuries of Japanese traditions and aesthetics had a profound effect on his work. Thisallowed me a renewed and deeper understanding of his intentions —as well as the heritage of my ancestors.
This exhibition marking Calder’s first solo exhibition in Tokyo in nearly 35 years continues my long collaboration with @calderfoundation with an incredible journey home honoring my beloved Japan and celebrating the opening of @pacegallery Tokyo.
Calder: Un effet du japonais is on view@azabudaihillsgallery through September 6 2024.

Twenty years ago today, the streets of New York City blanketed in snow I walked to my attorney’s office in the Empire State Building to execute the formation of my company.
I was young fearless and determined with a mission to embark on my own path to practice and share my vision.
The Journey has been defined by a desire for excellence, climbing he highest of mountains and enduring strengthening valleys bringing extraordinary opportunities, experiences, encounters and friendships with the most exquisite people, commissions and places.
I am grateful each day to utilize the powerful tool of my creative process to ideate, collaborate, build, connect, feel and tell stories that are multi sensorial.
Thank You my dear friends for this milestone Anniversary.
I love what I do and ready to share more.

Champagne for as long as I can remember has been at my emotional heart center and a sum of the various dimensions of my personality: Dom Pérignon is truly the detail-oriented architect in me; Krug, the elegant, orchestral, more classical me; La Grande Dame captures the powerful yet precise feminine energy; and Ruinart, the seriously creative, playful me and this goes deeper beyond these legendary portals.
The elegant, complex and refined architecture of Champagne speaks to who I am and how I create. Truly infinitely inspirational.
I am thrilled to share my passion with @jpterrebonne in the beautiful pages of @galeriemagazine Collectors Issue with such esteemed collector colleagues. Story in Bio.
Immense gratitude, respect and love for my dear friends and the “masters” who have opened doors and created the possibilities to be educated and empower me to continue this deep dive into a life long journey.

The reverence of history, tradition, craftand nature is at the core of the beauty of Japan and a constant inspiration to my work.
In the heart of Kyoto’s Gion my project for Jean Georges at The Shimonzen embodies these essential qualities transmitted through a modern lens.
The vision is to look beyond Japan to then rediscover and reencounter Japan and connect cultures and create deeper emotional experiences.
Gratitude to @as4d and @ingridabram for capturing this spirit so beautifully in the pages of @elledecor,and for the continued honor to be in esteemed company on the ELLE DECOR A-LIST. Link in Bio.
