OTD during #AAPIHeritageMonth, we recognize the fifth anniversary of the passage of the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act.
This bill followed soaring reports of anti-Asian hate during the COVID-19 pandemic due to racism and misinformation. It aimed to improve reporting, response and prevention of hate crimes targeting AAPI communities.
Five years later, progress has been made, but there is still work to be done toward recognizing the challenges these communities continue to face.
