Can’t stop being corny on main: one of the incredible things about making a film is you get to create your own universe and your own rules. My approach to rehearsaling was to simply build trust and chemistry with each member of the cast leading up to production.

These photos make me so happy but I also miss making this movie every day since we wrapped.

Miss Mousey appreciation post! 🐭

The deeply millennial favourite past time of drawing on MS paint simply had to be included in Blue Heron.

I spotted her at a flea market but was told “no” much to by disappointment. Lo and behold, on my birthday that year, I discovered my mom had actually purchased her in secret and surprised me.

Its quite hilarious and lovely to me that she is now (prominently) featured in my film, but not only that, she is the key art on a hat thanks to @humanboyworldwide

Please enjoy my nostalgic musings and my original artwork from 1998 🎨💾

It’s not easy being an artist in Canada. @sophyromvari is the director of the award-winning film Blue Heron, but there was a time while making the film that she had $0 in her bank account.

She sat down with @tomjoepower to talk about Blue Heron, the Canadian independent film industry, and why she finds making personal work fulfilling.

🎧Find her full interview on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. 🔗Link in bio.

David Cronenberg moderated the Q&A for the Canadian theatrical premiere of Blue Heron last night. I don’t think I can even begin to accurately describe how special this was. A legend in every sense of the word; so generous, kind, and above all else, hilarious.

There are many indelible moments I’d like to commemorate from the first week of releasing Blue Heron, but spending time in the magical Janus/Criterion office will always hold a special place in my memory. Having this little film be invited into a space of such cherished cinematic history is something I do not take lightly. 💙

Screening availability expands across North America starting tomorrow, check the link in my bio for a theatre hopefully near you!
