DT Banana Split Boardflips are getting delivered this week‼️ Who received their pair? 👀 These dropped as a preorder last November, and delivery was announced for April from the start.
I’m sure many would have hoped to receive them sooner, but tbh 1 month delay on that type of preorder drop is part of the game and acceptable imo.
Here is a comparison with the PROMO pair (limited to 40 units). Only differences are the tongue tag (icecream vs don toliver) and the insoles (custom Octane DT artwork vs regular pink insoles).

As soon as I saw them, I immediately hit up all my people in New York to try to grab me a pair, but everybody was tied up with Mother’s Day. But more importantly, nobody was really aware of the shoes!
@nikenyc had posted a video with @sidetalknyc but I think the video went above a lot of heads, because it was more focused on NY energy / people / Knicks, then the shoes themselves..
As a result, on Sunday, you could walk into the store and pick up a full-size run if you had enough people with you (one-per-person). @jimboslice laced up his whole family like a walk in the park haha.
But by Sunday evening, the major blogs eventually picked it up via PG Knows and the story started doing the rounds. On the next day Monday, hundreds of people were lining up, and the the rest of the stock sold out.

As soon as I saw them, I immediately hit up all my people in New York to try to grab me a pair, but everybody was tied up with Mother’s Day. But more importantly, nobody was really aware of the shoes!

Number branding on the heel in ‘Europa Grotesk SH Bold’ typeface is nothing new for Nigo. Of course, that style comes directly from the Last Orgy 2 branding (last slide), but it was also regularly reused on Bape products to mark anniversary special editions (Bape or specific store anniversaries), from Nigo OG era to modern times.
Slides 1-5 show various examples of OG Bapestas with that underlined number branding. Slide 6-11 are pairs from post-Nigo era which also feature that detail.
Although on the AF1 the number most probably only references the LO2 original branding (and maybe Nigo’s name which means ‘Number Two’ in Japanese), it’s interesting to remember that this style of branding was always used for anniversary products by Nigo at Bape.
Pretty dope to see that now an AF1 has the exact same style of branding as a Bapesta. Nigo really the GOAT haha.
