My latest attempt at trying to make a really pleasing piece of art, which you can find on Corridor Crew! And of course, I love loops so it HAD to loop!
A lot went into making this shot. Obviously the sound design was a very important aspect, and is where I began. I found a few sounds I liked and formed and idea around them. I’ve been getting really into layered sound design lately haha. It’s fun!
As for technical visual stuff, that was the real challenge! In theory the idea is simple enough: Cutout a puzzle shape from a pre-UV’d plane, then extrude that into a block that gets animated into place. Getting everything to actually work was not simple lol.
The animation was a combo of real rigid body physics of it getting tossed across the ground roughly into the right position, then animating the strength of a C4D constraint modifier to get it perfectly into position. The drop and bounce were hand animated.
The last frame of this post is actually my first proof of concept that never made it into the Crew video! What I really love about that shot (that I unfortunately couldn’t replicate later) was the wobbly bounciness the puzzle piece has sliding across the ground. It’s such a realistic looking slide! In the final thing it’s mostly framed out anyway.
A surprising challenge that I’m really proud to have pulled off was getting the ground texture to tile properly. I had to dial in the scale of the texture so that it stretched perfectly across the length of 4 pieces, like within 0.0001cm accuracy haha. I also fully did the animation of the red piece twice so that I could smoothly transition between the end and beginning of the shot in after effects for a smooth loop. You can see that transition in the Wireframe shot!
Anyway! Let me know if you like these detailed descriptions of what goes into these posts! Any info you’d like to hear more or less about?

Listen it’s not that I seek out unusual hobbies but they’re usually the most fun and my friends get me into them! Sling throwing is awesome!
I got a bag of like 25 little bean bags and after I throw them all I go collect em on my Onewheel haha. It’s a pretty good system! This new sling has a little whip tip on it so hearing that CRACK is pretty satisfying. Shoutout to @primalslinging, this sling is SO nice!

Ok, story time. Last year I signed up to fight in a boxing match in a stadium full of thousands of people. I trained every single day for half a year. I was pushing myself harder than I ever had before. We even made some sick shirt designs to celebrate it! The event became all-consuming in my life
That event never happened…
But we decided to make the shirts anyway!!! These are based on my old “Wren the Reaper” name that I brought back for boxing. The design is super cool. I’ve been wearing our sample in videos for months now, so maybe you’ve seen it already. I love the sleeveless design SO MUCH too!
They’re only available until April 27th so pick one up before they’re gone forever!

New trick unlocked!
Ok for real I’ve become obsessed. This was my third night lighting up on fire, but I’ve been practicing a lot. I’ve been borrowing a contact staff from @alexgoyettefilms but tomorrow I get my first one! A flaming darth maul staff! Yeah I’m excited haha. I know this is WAY off style from my normal thing so thanks for tuning in!
James Cameron taught us a thing or two about directing! #Ad Avatar: Fire and Ash is playing only in theatres on December 19th. Get your tickets, on sale now!
22 water crossings!!!! We LOVE hiking in the rain, and this SoCal storm brought a LOT of water haha. It was 11 crossings out to the waterfall, then another 11 back. Such an epic adventure!! We started out super cautious and careful, but by the end we felt like grizzled veterans lol. The water came up to our waist only a couple times, which felt a little sketchy, but I focused on crossing instead of filming.
I don’t know how to wheelie, but with the Wheelie Fun Bike I don’t need to!! It’s just a button! Preorders are up now!
Follow @wheeliefunbike for more info. I’m not affiliated, but my friends at @thefloatlife came up with this and it’s super cool!
