@troonbrewing - No Lessons Learned. An 8.7% Hoppy Ale. This thing bangs! Pineapple, gooseberry, nectarine and pine galore with a floral, citrus and earthy backend. Nice hop bite on the finish with lingering flavors of grapefruit and banana laffy taffy. Medium in body and weight with the chewiest, creamiest, illustrious body. Goodness. Booze? Hardly knew her. This is the Troon I love. Perfect suds to usher in the weekend. I’m very glad to have tried and would gladly revisit/recommend. Gimme!

L: pours a dull, deep canary yellow and settles with total opacity. A standard, angled pour yielded a finger’s worth of an egg shell colored cap comprised of uniform tiny bubbles. Null for residual lacing.
•
S: Citrusy and herbaceous on the nose. It smells like a Citra and Nelson beer, and I say that with a fond sentiment. No sweetness, no frills. Just downright good-smelling suds.
•
T: As the nose foretold, the flavors are exactly as prescribed, meaning both Citra and Nelson are in full effect. Pithy citrus, predominantly conveying flavors of orange, grapefruit and pineapple. If you spilt the flavor profile into teams, Citra dominates the first half while Nelson ties the game in the second. Notes of white wine, grape must, matcha and lemon come to mind. A saltine crackery yeast profile lays the field for which the aforementioned flavors battle upon. The aftertaste is earthy, zesty, and a touch floral.

F: medium in body and light in weight. A bit more watery than other Fallside offerings I’ve yet to try but it by no means devalues the beer. Lower end of moderate for carbonation.

O: I enjoyed this. Gracie is not reinventing the wheel but is a candid lesson in dutiful hop execution and refinement. L: pours a beautiful hazy straw yellow with total opacity. A standard pour yielded two finger’s width of a stark white cap that sustained nicely. Moderate traces of lacing veil the glass. Can art also on point - love the contrast the color way conveys.

S: pungent citrus with a weedy undertone. The smell was evident upon cracking the can. A subtle vanilla spread sweetness when I really shove my nose in.

T: A mesh of both worlds - fruit laden without compromising its roots, leaning heavily on its unique hop bill to lend a hop punch. Orange, pineapple, mango, pine, matcha, thyme, lime and nectarine instantly come to mind. Pomelo, hibiscus, coriander, blackberry and tangerine on the backend. A bit funky and earthy in aftertaste that is hard to put my finger on (perhaps Talus as I’m not too acquainted with it?) but the flavor is great.

F: medium in both body and weight. Booze? Hardly knew her. Creamy in texture and lofty on the palate - great stuff.

O: this was a fun one. I like the tug-o-war flavor aspect, meandering back and forth between fruit-forward and hop prowess without becoming disjointed. O: this was a fun one. I like the tug-o-war flavor aspect, meandering back and forth between fruit-forward and hop prowess without becoming disjointed. It embodies all the things that makes each offering unique. I am very glad to have tried and would gladly revisit/recommend. I’d argue to drink these sooner rather than later - no better time than now! Cheers, all.

@sheltonbrewing x @thahoptometrist - Snitches Get Stitches. A 9% DIPA featuring Nectaron, Superdelic, Citra, & Talus hops.

L: pours a beautiful hazy straw yellow with total opacity. A standard pour yielded two finger’s width of a stark white cap that sustained nicely. Moderate traces of lacing veil the glass. Can art also on point - love the contrast the color way conveys.

S: pungent citrus with a weedy undertone. The smell was evident upon cracking the can. A subtle vanilla spread sweetness when I really shove my nose in.

T: A mesh of both worlds - fruit laden without compromising its roots, leaning heavily on its unique hop bill to lend a hop punch. Orange, pineapple, mango, pine, matcha, thyme, lime and nectarine instantly come to mind. Pomelo, hibiscus, coriander, blackberry and tangerine on the backend.
