“ghost in hokas” — one morning Sam told me she saw a person dressed in white waiting on the median near our house early in the morning. It was near Halloween. So I made a passing remark about how it could have been a ghost. To which she replied “I’ve never seen a ghost in Hokas” so this song was born. Influenced heavily by dream pop/shoegaze. I wrote a narrative for our ghost and put music to it. I hope she crossed over (or found a lift)

This one is named “I hope this email sets us free”— what began as an intentional organic instruments/sampling experiment turned into a sprawling emotional meditation (and not to mention my longest track I’ve ever recorded).

This song is packed with tones, tracks, field recordings, and tons of other experimentation. My favorite aspect features a roar of voices that I created from saved voicemails from people I love. It serves as a reminder that life is tense, and fraught with disorder—but above the roar, there’s lightness. There’s freedom. So, I hope this email sets us free…🫶🏻

This one is called “kidding”—I recorded this in January of 2024. I’ve loved it since day one, and was really selfish with it. I think I was truthfully saving it for the right time. The right time is now, because It’s only fitting that a song named “kidding” closes out a record titled“tell me a joke” - life is funny, fucked up and weird—laughter really is the best medicine. 🫶🏻
