Shubham, who I can call one of my own . was the first guy I met & spoke to during our prep of sacred games. He can have the most insane topics to chat about and while you’re talking he will beat box in the middle of it & next thing I know i was adding rhymes to it and he will be like “ ohhhh yeah bacchi “. We knew this is a hardcore tag team right there.
More than 100 days of shoot plus endless office hours we never argued or fought for anything & were always in agreement on things, some views we expressed and some ..hahahaha .
On those long never ending Worli Koliwada night shoots he helped keep my sanity.

I say we were a close bunch as a team cause not only did we stay in touch but re grouped on one call. Ajat then DA is DOP of the film. Kitch was costume Asst ,now the stylist. Priyaank was in production, now EP on the film. Thereis paddy on camera,Manish is DIT (my protein supplier on set) & leading us all is “ Bhushan Ji” who was always producer . The addition to the gang 🎧coolest sound designer in town & our leading lady .

That was the first-day interaction with "THE MAN." At the start of my career, if anybody had told me that one day I would be working on a Raju Hirani film and calling the shots for the last few days, I wouldn’t have believed it—or probably thought the person telling me this had smoked up. Now, add SRK to the mix of things. Raju Hirani + SRK, a win-win situation.
Day 2 : he called us to his cabin and narrated the script to us—a "MAGIC NARRATION." Without watching a single frame, we knew exactly how he envisioned the story. It was a detailed narration, covering characters' expressions, dialogues, costumes, makeup, punch lines, pauses—all of this with a huge smile on his face.
Over the week, there were a few more new entries in different departments, and we had more narrations. Everyone was detailed, no shortcuts. Every narration had the same energy and that Raju sir’s smile. He loves his narrations; even if you wake him up in the middle of the night and ask him to start from a particular point, Raju sir will have the same enthusiasm and that smile, though his eyes are shut.

Basic things, guys—basic things connect with people. Zyaada Socho mat. Basic karlo, baaki audience pe chhod do.
The stories of how he went about making his first film and how his family responded to the first cut of Munna Bhai are hilarious. I should mention he is a fab actor. Only if we recorded the BTS of his stories in the office.

Every Munna needs a Circuit, every Rancho requires a Raju & Farhan, every Sanju requires a Kamli. Every Raju Hirani requires an Abhijaat (my Argentina partner⚽️). Every time you think a scene can’t get better, enter Abhijat sir, and all of us have a look that says, "Oh! Yeh toh humne socha nahi." Thank you, Abhijaat sir, for all the tips and the motivational chats.

May 5 2016 . Day 1 Kaabil . My first job to handle actors , I was thrown in the lions cage , little did I know soon I will be part of the pack walking to set .

Just yesterday I was sitting in Gaiety / Galaxy watching “ Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai “ and witnessed the phenom he became . Fwd a few years down and I had the privilege to walk him to set on not 1, 2 but 3 films .Kaabil, Super 30, Vikram Vedha.

From just eye contact to greeting & speaking STRICTLYin Bihariduring the making Super 30. The Kaho naa pyaar hai , Karan Arjun , Koyla back stories to workouts of Dhoom 2 & Bang Bang . The Physio stories ( Akshay Wagh puts all of us through pain ) .How he stood for 40 good minutes for his body shot for Aap mujhe accha lagne lage. Everyday was , is and for sure will be a new learning experience with HR . Thank you for all the film lessons & convos we’ve had on different sets & cities which will serve me throughout my film journey .

I will forever be grateful to Sushilji ( Godfather ) & Viju for taking me under their wing from the very first day of them being on the sets of Kaabil. I would’ve never been the confident “ HR’s GUY “ without their schooling & guidance . The pep talk , the arton “ how to handle a star “ I can say that their training is my highest degree till date . TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK.
I was always part of “Team HR” and not just a Asst director . What a ride it has been, as we touch day 90 on Vikram Vedha. From the sand lands of Abu Dhabi to the nawab land of Lucknow interrupted by COVID & we marched from Pune to Aamchi Mumbai. Looking back, I can say that Salman Zaidi has made this journey a memorable one . He is one of the top 1st ad’s I’ve worked with & yes, I say that causeI have worked with some top cats in this business . He oozes confidence & one has nothing but respect for the way he goes about his work. Appreciated & respected by one and all be it our directors, our dop, pd, producers right upto the spot team . I can never forget his support in my frustrating days, be it the hospital visits during shoot, death in the family while we were away filming . He made sure I was at peace mentally.
You are as good as your team, old forgotten lines were brought back to life on this project.
From the mandatory swim post packto no discussing work on the dinner table, which led to some insane rib tickling stories.
Salman bhai made working hard fun.
Sounding like an appreciation post, hell yeah !!! The guy deserves it.
