From when we first started working on the album, this song “Dear Sahana” has held a very special, warm place in my heart. There’s an especially deep joy when we perform it live. I can’t wait for y’all to hear the record version of this song when “Sidharth” releases later this summer. Until then, head over to @nprmusic YouTube channel to listen to the version we performed for Tiny Desk!
Special shout out to anyone named Sahana out in the world

Last weekend at the @harvardindiaconf was special. On Saturday I presented a talk “Imagining India’s Sonic Future” and on Sunday I performed a stripped down set with brother @evanguymandude. Met some amazing folks, got to listen to exciting perspectives, and tapped back in with a simple version of self. Big big big love to those involved in putting this amazing conference together- I don’t have everyone’s IG, but if you see this pls know yall made this a truly unforgettable experience.
Here are some moments from the weekend.
1. Ended the set with Vande Mataram. there was a moment of quiet right when I finished the piece and it still hasn’t left me. Captured by @kushalikumar
2. Met @priyankachopra for a quick minute after her talk and before my performance. Loved listening to her in conversation with @anjula_acharia. The honesty and effortless confidence she exudes are deeply inspiring
3. Gotta understand the parameters to be able bend and exist outside of them. Moment from my talk captured by @fromramonawlove
4. Vakratunda Mahakaya. Captured by @shivani_mohini
5. Srivalli. Captured by @kushalikumar
6. Seize the moment. Moment from my talk captured by @hanan_noushadd
7. At the Harvard Business school sign with brother @evanguymandude. Captured by the homie Anjan @sure_sarva
8. Reminiscing on my time going to @berkleecollege while staring at the Citgo sign
9. Singing a lil in the chapel at Harvard Business school. Captured by @evanguymandude
10. @eardrummerman showing us some mind bending stuff at MIT’s Opera of the Future
11. Why u trynna rob the culture? Captured by @tharshika.thava
12. dear Sahana. Captured by @what_is_esc, who also made the wonderful visual piece that played behind during the set!!
13. Creating new melodic vocabularies grounding in a backbone of Carnatic melody. captured by @romitaupendra
14. Kadalalle/Pularadha. Captured by @therahuldubey

Mumbai, hard to put the feeling into words- Saturday night felt like we collectively channelled energy from up above. The goal has always been to take this music that feels so rooted in this soil, and take it into the future/out into the world. Saturday’s show felt like a powerful step with this intention as the engine.
The whole 3.5 hour set was such a deeply joyful experience for us, but it felt like the air particularly stood still once I started singing Apsara Ali (slides 1,3). That stillness turned into an exhilarating tornado of sound when we did the subsequent remix of the song (slides 2,4). I made the remix a couple days before the show, almost scrapped it from the show during sound check but the boys were like nahh we gotta do it, and im so damn happy we did!
To my brothers on stage with me: @sanjeevtmusic, @tapassnaresh, @ramkuu, @theorganboyofficial, and @christhejason- y’all already know what it is, it’s an honour, joy and roller coaster being on stage with y’all.
To my brothers handling sound- @supratik_das (FOH) and @hardikkeshan (monitors), what y’all pull off with such a sense of calm is magical, bringing it all to life.
To my brothers handling the visual realm- @theconcertproduction// @sohailmansuri89 (creative concept/light designer) and @visual_artist_sam (LED visuals), the way you bring the whole space to life is a true sight to behold.
To the crew fam- @thithan89, @gopi_insta84, @simrendeepkaurji, @srisan1213, @shreyas.shankar, @shripad_mudhalwadkar- big love for pulling together the moving parts. Y’all rock
Big love to @jsw.group @hyperlink.brandsolutions @districtupdates @warrendsouza @sound_com
And last but most certainly not least, MUMBAI TO EVERY SINGLE ONE OF Y’ALL IN THE AUDIENCE- I love y’all eternally, you brought the most incredible energy!!! We did what we did because of y’all
