What a full day of dancing and learning. Today the participants learned so many exercises under Linear Fluidity and some movements clarification use for transitional movements.

They also started to learn the choreography for our presentation next week. and they also started to create their group presentation.

Graduate Naku! 😭😭😭


It took me 15 years to say this! Yes, it has been 15 years since I took a break from college and moved to Manila to pursue my dance career. To be honest, I really don’t like studying, but deep inside I’m still a little insecure that I’m still not a graduate, even though many things have happened in my 18 years in the industry, and now I have fulfilled one of the wishes of my Nanay Flor, Parents (Iloilo/Cebu) Mama Cecilia, Papa Sammy, Tita Lisa, Siblings(Edzel,Elsie,Rhocel, JN)Dance Mom Annie and close Family/Friends.

I didn’t experience the usual college life since I returned during the pandemic and until this year since the set up of the school for us professionals, but nonetheless, college life is still hard, especially for us that are working and not so young anymore. Funny thing, I was actually approach to become a faculty member, but I told the school that I haven’t finished college yet, so they asked me to get the student status for now and think about the proposal in the future. It took several months of conversation with my partner, family, and a few friends about this decision. Somehow, at the end of my college journey, I almost gave up, but I was reminded of the privileges that I have and the purpose of why I’m studying because this is not only for my dance career; this is also for the community we are building.

Day 1 done here in Calbayog for the Samar Creative Academy.

Arrived in Tacloban and traveled straight to Calbayog for the afternoon class. The long hours of travel were honestly exhausting, but the moment I stepped into the venue and saw the dancers waiting with excitement and eagerness to learn, all the tiredness suddenly disappeared. That kind of energy and passion always reminds me why I continue to teach and share dance wherever I go.

Today was a beautiful start with the young dancers of Calbayog City. Seeing them challenge themselves, try unfamiliar movements, and stay open to learning made the entire trip worth it. Moments like this remind me that dance is not only about technique, but also about courage, curiosity, and community.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again tomorrow and hoping to welcome even more students into the space. Excited to continue creating, learning, and growing together for the next few days.

Day 1 done here in Calbayog for the Samar Creative Academy.

Arrived in Tacloban and traveled straight to Calbayog for the afternoon class.
