Experience the future of design!
Join the students of IAT 431 for the Spring 2026 Speculative Design Final Exhibition and Showcase, tomorrow April 2nd in the Atrium of the @sfusurrey Sustainable Energy Engineering Building!
IAT 431 students have been developing the skills necessary for understanding, interpreting, and thinking about future designs. A culmination of their studies, this exhibition showcases their final, highly resolved speculative design projects: tangible artifacts and digital programs designed from non-typical perspectives.
When: April 2nd 2026, 12:00-2:00pm
Where: SFU Surrey SRYE Atrium
Check out the designs. Meet the designers. Reflect on the Future.

Join us for “Play with Purpose”, an IAT 312 Student Showcase of board games about connection, choice, and change this Thursday April 2nd in the @sfusurrey Mezzanine.
Experience six student-designed board games that invite you to laugh, negotiate, reflect, and connect.
Explore games about inner voices and life choices, the temptation of powerful shortcuts, refugees escaping a militarized border where helping others comes at a cost, surviving together in an AI-overrun city, the seduction of corporate power and fascism, and everyday situations where empathy and connection shape what happens next.
These games do more than entertain: they spark conversation, invite perspective-taking, and show how play can bring people together in meaningful ways.
Try the games. Meet the designers. Leave with something to think about.

Researchers from the School of Interactive Arts & Technology (SIAT) took home the CHI 2026 Best Paper Award at this year's ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI), the premier international conference of Human-Computer Interaction.
