Last May, at the United Nations building, I received a “Professional Photographer Achievement” Award from IPC (International Photographic Council). What was special to me about this award was the fact that it wasn’t for my artistry, which is really based on perception and opinion, but for the work I’ve been doing at @lr2studio to help other creatives achieve higher and reach further. (Tap in with the studio page if you don’t know bout it!)

Reminded of the lack of access at the beginning of my career… to the gatekeeping… and need for guidance that came from a place of in-depth understanding my journey and where I come from, it was important for me to dedicate energy to empowerment of my people.

I’ve always been a fearless fighter and maybe a bit blissfully ignorant to danger. I don’t know what resistance I’ll face in the future when fighting for the creative and financial freedom of people who look like me, but I’m strapped up either way. I was in good company as you can see on the page with the other recipients listed.
Shout to to ipc_photo_org, @fujifilmx_us and specifically Victor and Stacey for empowering ME to make sure the fight is as fair as possible.

May the best ideas win, no matter what body the came from! ✌🏾 I got some other cool sh*t that’s happened and is happening and for now on I’ll be back to sharing!
