Terrain for Haemorrhage by @implausibleknight

Made a start on the terrain pieces for Haemorrhage.
I started with the boards which I used as the back drop for these photos. They're just some old vinyl floor tiles with foam underlay used for laminate flooring stuck to the underside. I printed some texture rollers and used them to impress a fleshy texture into the foam before painting it and giving it a coat of Vallejo still water mixed with Blood for the Blood God and a bit of Black Templar contrast paint. The texture probably could have been a bit deeper but I think it looks alright.
The terrain pieces themselves are made with various 3d printed bones, cheap air dry clay and green stuff for the veiny bits. They're painted up with a bit of drybrushing and then the same water mix. It was interesting to try a resin pour for the skull pool and although there are a few small bubbles left in the resin I managed to clear most of them with a cocktail stick as it was curing. Worked well for a first try.
I'm pretty happy with how these are looking and have started on the next batch which will include some lumps of fat and maybe some large blood clots in addition to more bones.

The Gloaming Nursery

For Necropolis 28 by @owlshield

The completed gathering all together in one shot. I'm really happy with how these look together despite the disparate mix of model styles and sculpting.
They're a Plasm gathering and I ran with the Scions of the Doomed Child idea to make a collection of ghost children and their caretaker, The Mother of Orphans. Her familiar is the abandoned child of an Oni, the Aberrant Husk is the vengeful spirit of an unborn giant whose mother was killed while pregnant, the Husks are older children who died of some terrible plague and the Phantasm is a forest spirit whose forest was burned to ashes. The Mother and one of the Husks carry shrunken, man faced babies, adult humans who crossed them and were cursed to return to warped versions of their infant selves.
I think this should be a fun group to play when that eventually happens, hopefully sometime soon.

Phantasm for Necropolis by @owlshield

The last member of my gathering is this little guy, summonable with a spell by my Lich. The base of this is a @banhus_miniatures Twig Horror from @mammothminiatures that I thought had a good, childlike look that would fit with the theme. I used a bit of twig to construct the arm holding a green stuff teddy bear to help it blend with the natural texture of the original model. Thought I'd add some sticks to give him the impression of shyness, peering out from the woods.

Husks for Necropolis 28 by @owlshield

It's been a while but I got a gathering worked out for Necroplis and have been making the last few minis I need to be able to play. It's a game with a very small model count so there wasn't much to do.
The bodies for these are plaguebearers with @gardensofhecate Nekroplanet artefacts from @ramshackle_games as heads. I made the arms with green stuff as well as the body for the little roast chicken baby. The banner is a bit of old t shirt and I'm not totally happy with it but I think it's ok. I'm really happy with the guy holding the baby though, he may be my favourite of the whole group.
I made a Phantasm too that my Lich will be able to summon which I'll share soon.

Fat Cell
For Haemorrhage by @implausibleknight

The last cell for my Haemorrhage strain for now. Once I figure out a good way to make Skin I'll get to that but for now I need to make a set of terrain.
This one didn't go quite as how I'd hoped but I do like the drips and I think the sort of bruised look from the drybrushing looks pretty good. It definitely looks distinct from the rest of the group so that's good.

Nerve Cell

For Haemorrhage by @implausibleknight

Another cell for my Strain. I wanted to make the Nerve distinct from the Muscle so I used some polystyrene balls and connected them with some tentacle bits. Was pretty happy with the flowing shape of the thing. To further differentiate it I added some little hemisphere beads on the nodes in clusters as well as the usual lumpy milliput bits.
Wanted to avoid another very red cell so I used a lot of purple in the painting and a couple of mixtures of the water effect with different paints to tint them. I think it worked well.
I'll share the Fat Cell I've made soon and in the meantime I've been starting some boards before I jump into terrain making.

A couple of Clots

For Haemorrhage by @implausibleknight

Just a couple of sticky little guys to fill out my Strain. Wanted some vaguely uncomfortable shapes so built these out with milliput and tried to make them look as different to each other as possible while sticking to the same construction. Not sure how successful that was but I like them.
Nerve and Fat are now done so expect to see those soon. I think they're all looking really good together and I'm excited to get some scenery done and finally play some games.

Muscle Cell for Haemorrhage by @implausibleknight

This is my second attempt at making a Muscle for my Strain. The first one was more of a hand but I like the more abstract form of this one. I'll use the big hand for something else in the future. The bulk of this is made from polymer clay over tinfoil with the usual milliput and green stuff embellishments.
Really happy with how these are going so far. I've got a couple of Clots done that I'll share soon, a Nerve mostly finished and a Fat cell in the early stages.

Bit of a spur of the moment kitbash from a couple of nights ago. I'm running low on bodies for kitbashing but remembered I had this Dust Punk (who I think disappeared from Instagram) 3d print that was a little damaged in the bits box. Swapped out the arms, added a cape from a Chaos Space Marine character and copious lumps to fill in the gaps. I don't normally give the 'humans' faces when I do these but I thought the suggestion of one here looked funny.
Once I know what size base the new Yarrick will be on I'll make my own version of him too.

As a side note, I don't know how likely it is that I'll ever use these for actually 40k given the ridiculous amount of models and time you need but they've been really fun to use for one page rules recently. Looking forward to more of that in the future.

Heart cell for Haemorrhage by @implausibleknight

Continuing to work on my Strain for Haemorrhage with this massive heart cell. To be honest it got a bit out of hand and ended up bigger than I intended (that's a 100mm base) but I'm really pleased with how it ended up looking. Used a lot of the same techniques I use for my Totally Normal Cadians but with more purple in the drybrushing to give some more variations in colour, particularly for the tubey bits. I also used a couple of different mixtures of water effect and paint to get the base darker and bloodier.
Muscle Cell next?

Treeman and Dryad

I've had these 90s tree guys, sculpted by @monstergirl_trish for a while now and never got to painting them so I'm happy to have them done now. I intended to go with muted, natural colours but couldn't resist a few pops of bright pink and purple as I went along. I think the shadowy effect from the drybrushed gradient worked particularly well on these.

Bloodgut Knuckledragger

When I got the 3d printer this was the first big thing that I printed after some smaller tests. I really love the design by @miscast.co and the sculpt by @rach.creating and thought it would make a great Gorkanaut for my Orks. Added a couple of little extras with the goop from the belly hole, a friendly little Gretchin and an angry goose to continue the vague animal theme of the army.
I'm really happy with how vibrant the colours look on this although in hindsight I should have done a better job cleaning up some of the imperfections of the print. Still, it will look good and imposing on the table and that's what I was after.
As an aside, I've been showing my brother-in-law the Ork stuff I'm painting as they'll hopefully go up against his Tyranids eventually and he says they look like delicious, iced cakes. I'm happy with that.
