A few of my favorite shots from this year's trip to Svalbard with @40tribes.

I will be giving a presentation on this trip this Friday, December 19th, in Bristol, VT, at 7 pm.

Pull up for mostly true stories of despair, polar bears, arm wrestling, and some snowboarding. #svalgnar #svalbard

Trip of a Lifetime! Memories have been created new friendships came together in a cold arctic Ski Basecamp!

Skiing several days on #Svalbard and the island treated us well… Powder, good runs, blue bird and an amazing crew. Thanks to everyone it was a pleasure guiding you!
Oh and of course we hade a spectacular Polar Bear visit (more will follow soon).

To celebrate tomorrow's Greenland talk at @grainsurfboards, here are a few more photos from the trip. Getting some powsurf turns in above Kulusuk while the sled dogs spectate. Just about as surreal as it comes. #powsurf #powsurfing

The past, present, and future of snowboarding all came together this past weekend at Stratton and celebrated what makes snowboarding great, the community (and rideable halfpipes). I will join the chorus of posts thanking @garyland and @barryduganvt for pulling off something special and significant.

A few notes from the photos -

Slide 1 - despite all the crusty high fives and nostalgia, nothing stoked me more than @lilhomie802 ripping down the pipe during the post 40 yr contest jam.

Slide 2 - @zebpowelll you are a gem, snowboarding is lucky to have you

Slide 4 - plenty of better riding shots from far better photographers but this one reflects my memory of the 90s - slightly blurry, beer in frame, and an inspiring tweak. I was standing in this position for Terje's iconic 96 runs, Michalchuk's mental doubles in 98, and countless overhead board bending grabs by Abe Teeter.

Slide 5 - I first met Jesse at the last US Open at Stratton in 2012 and now count him as a good friend. The Open was not just a chance to see your old friends but an opportunity to make new ones. We have been missing this.

Slide 6 - My Glebelands article for @thesnowboardersjournal closed with this quote from @vincel

"There's a thread of appreciation for each other's creativity that motivates each of us. You need friends that you're inspired by. You need friends to kick your ass when you are feeling down. It's like when you're riding and you're being lazy, then you see something that somebody does and you get stoked. It's a little spark."

Thanks @vincel and Glebelands, you ARE snowboarding as far as I am concerned. Hopefully Homesick will serve as that spark for the collective community.

Slide 7 - watching this competition made me want to ride pipe instead of being petrified by it, sometimes a relatable air can be far more motivating than an insane one

Slide 8 - props to @shaunwhite, you went up a few notches in my book, very impressive the time you spent with your legions of fans, even Jesse
