Story time:
I have always loved the underwater ever since I was a kid. My father put me in competitive swimming classes at Andheri Sports complex but I got so bored of just doing laps. All I wanted to do was to touch the bottom at 18 feet and my father really wondered then what would be the use of this skill.

Over the years I have done my fair share of free diving but I could not really go deeper than 22 feet as I could not equalise my ears properly. Last year I met @benrichie2512 in Pangalo, Philippines and he showed me how to Frenzel equalise and that was a game changer. I knew I wanted to start this year by learning how to go deeper and I booked Molchanov wave 1 with Niel @nofinsnatty

I was only supposed to do the wave 1 course at 17 meter (55 feet) but Niel convinced me that I could actually go deeper and complete my Molchanov wave 2 training (24 meter/ 80 feet) as well.

This journey has been the most challenging both mentally and physically. I trained 6 hours a day for over 10 days to finally be able to hit this magic number and I am now officially a professional free diver.

Okay, not gonna lie this experience was out of this world but so damn hard to experience 🙈. We took a boat from Panglao to the neighbouring Balicsaga island. Just off the coast of the island you find this massive school of Jackfish that you can freedive with. Seeing such a huge school just blows your mind, it’s so massive that your jaw automatically drops seeing it! The only issue here is that the current is insane. You need to be a very very good swimmer just to swim against it and then you need to be able to to freedive in that current to reach the Jack fishes. We were dead tired just trying to keep up against the current. But to be swallowed by that bait ball was a dream come true.

Cheering him on like he is in the olympics 🔥

This is kitesurfing! It’s a wind/water sport. Not very easy to learn. Seeing him ace this after years and years of practice hits me everytime. 👏

If you want to learn this you can learn this in Goa between January and May with @kitesurfingoa
It costs about 30-40k and takes about 12 hours of training spread over 5-6 days. The learning curve is a bit steep as most Indians have never done any board sports (wakeboarding, surfing, skateboarding) but once you get the hang of it, there’s no rush like this!

We recently stayed at @nalandaretreat in Mandrem, and it honestly felt like a completely different Goa. It’s right by the beach but instead of the usual combination of shacks and parties, it’s calm, slow, and grounding in the best way.

They’ve got beautiful rooms, two pools, and a bunch of yoga shalas with daily yoga and meditation. We even tried an ice bath (still recovering 😅) and a sound therapy session, which was such a unique experience.
What we loved most though was how easy it felt to just switch off. Mornings by the beach, listening to the waves, long walks & the daily yoga, it heals you.

Goa has always been special to us. It’s a place that has always rejuvenated us. The ocean has helped us many times so we went back to the source and sat the the beach for may days just breathing.

It brought us back to ourselves in such a peaceful way. Doing yoga, ice baths, sound therapies @nalandaretreat were great tools to just ground us and go inward. It’s a great place to unwind if you’re looking for a break from the world.
