Tower of the Sun - Tarō Okamoto (1970)
Tower of the Sun - Edouard Leret (2025)
A tribute to Juan Pablo Ayala
The sun woke up hungover on a Tuesday, its rays sticky with the juice of a thousand mangos it stole from the Caribbean. It had been drinking all night—while the trees whispered curses in a language older than Columbus’s first lie. “Give us back our gold,” their roots curling like fists in the dirt. But the sun just laughed.
It wore a crown of pineapple thorns, each spike dripping with the memory of a forest.
At dusk, it sank into the ocean to rinse off the guilt, “I’ll rise again,” he said, half-drunk on stolen fruit, “and tomorrow I’ll taste the pineapples. They’re sweeter when they’re angry.”
