3:00:03 IN LONDON: you know whatβs better than sub 3? EXACTLY 3 π. This was genuinely THE run of my life - my last weekend living in London and I got to celebrate by giving it the final big lap - 3 weeks ago I thought I wouldnβt be on that start line and on the day I really didnβt know what would happen - instead, I felt so controlled and strong throughout and was even able to achieve a faster second half with a negative split for the first time
The energy was unreal, Londoners atop bus stops, climbing trees, hanging over the bridges - I couldnβt hear my headphones at points due to the roar, and spectators really carried me the entire way - thank you so much everyone who was tracking and messaging me throughout as well, I was checking my phone and it gave me such a boost!
This was, officially, the biggest marathon in the world, a certificate from the Guinness World Records is on its way - when I was halfway, I saw Sawe and Kejelcha in the Elite Menβs field run past before achieving sub 2 hours - to be part of that, a historical race in the greatest city, is an unmatched feeling - I β€οΈ London, nothing quite like it #london #londonmarathon

3:06 AT CHICAGO - my first world major and third marathon - after being in the depths of restricted running hell, injury scares, and phantom pain I felt UNLEASHED and FREE in this race - did not hold back one bit at the start because I was just so happy to RUN π this definitely cost me with an incredibly WEAK finish - but a marathon finish is a marathon finish and still managed a PR - I smacked right into the wall early at 32km followed by the longest 10.2km of my life spent just holding on - gels stopped working, legs had nothing and I felt like a laminated piece of paper, but the mind is always stronger than you think - sub 3 wonβt elude me for much longer - 54,000 running legends, 1.7 million (!) spectators including @annabelsweeney_ πΉ - Iβve never felt so much adrenaline and joy throughout a course, even in the hard parts - love you Chicago, onto the next! π
