The strike slowdown has finally given me some time to put together my first narrative/scripted demo reel in over ten years. That is a long time but my excuse is that I have been lucky to have been so busy working as a camera assistant with some of the best DoPs and on some very rewarding productions. I hope you all enjoy catching up with my work and to my fellow DP friends, I am still currently classified in IATSE local 600 as a 1st assistant camera, and I am still very much available for local and international work as such or camOp. ;) There will be many more self promotional posts showcasing some of my work cinematographer in the upcoming week(s) ... see more at www.RyanPatrickOHara.com

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who gave me the opportunities to do what I love for another year. I could not have done this without you.

I was able to survive this interesting year in film because not only did I get to work with the wonderful usual people, but I also got to work with some amazing new people too. And interestingly enough many old industry contacts from my past also reentered my life with new opportunities. It was a successful year that couldn’t have happened without my past, present and future collaborators.

I hate taking pictures that everyone else takes. Landmark buildings as a tourist are a challengebecause you have the same vantage points as thousands of other people also taking photos. One of my go to ways to@walk away with something unique is to try and shoot reflections from nearby puddles, glass windows or other reflective surfaces. The Round tower in Copenhagen and the Arc de Triomphe are good examples of my recent attempts to shoot an otherwise straight forward vacation memory as something less… touristy.
