Here it is. “Neon”- John Mayer. I’m gonna do a full acoustic cover of the “Live at Nokia Theatre”version eventually but, I can’t half ass that one.

The most difficult part by far is the right hand technique. The 3 main parts are the “slap through” (slap with the thumb hard enough to hit the low C and the tap simultaneously), the traditional “percussive slap”, and the up stroke with the index. You only slap down with the thumb and pluck up with the index in a cyclical motion. If you lose the right hand you lose it all while maintaining the right hand can hide your mistakes on the left. Then you slide your hidden pick out of your middle finger for the chorus and back in for the next verse.

Happy to be on a show where I have the time/energy to get some jammin done after work. I have a backlog of songs to do now that Neon is tackled. That one wound me up for a long time.

My attempt at “Never Going Back Again” - Fleetwood Mac
The Travis Picking pattern really made my brain hurt. Buckingham is brilliant.

Soliloquy time:

That’s a wrap on “The Electric State”. I’ve been dreading the end of this one since shortly after we started in October. 6 years ago I started off as a little GFA intern on Infinity War who was scared of his own shadow. 6 years later I had the chance to work with the same group of filmmakers again but, as a bonafide company grip. Took a bit of a leap of faith dropping something certain for the uncertain but, this was the best decision I ever made for my self.

Met a ton of awesome people, worked with the best grip department in the business, never worked more than 55 hours in a week, and was able to have a life outside of work. The energy on set was definitely palpable and that translates very well to the finished product in my experience.

-“STOP A CAR”
-“You can’t hang with the peanut gang”
-“Winners attract winners”
-“It sucks to suck”
-“Anderson Camera Support”
-“SANTA MONICA BEACH!”
-“If you’re waiting on us you’re going backwards”
-“Basically I need you to set that c-stand exactly like how you were told not to.”
-“Daaaaaaaaang Duuuuuuuuude
-“Flat side up”

The Season Finale of @tellmelieshulu is up! This is “Lucy” my 1974 Yamaha signed by the cast and crew. I think I’m gonna make this a tradition for any show I feel has made a profound impact on me. It gives me an excuse to buy more guitars. 😂

What this guitar represents to me is that I had the ability to amalgamate the best parts of myself. I learned to embrace who I truly am (especially my goofy side) and shed irrational insecurities that have held me back for too long. For the first time on a film set I was exactly who I truly am. Not who I thought everyone wanted me to be. I know who I am, what I want, and where I want to go.
End soliloquy.

I told you all I was gonna retire this guitar and hang it on my wall as a display. Welp…….. I LIED. ✌️
