after a full year of film school and making films about female rage, dirt, and the divine, I went through some old photos and realized that it all makes sense and one of the most liberating feelings in the world is realizing that maybe you haven’t changed at all— maybe you’ve always been this way
a little piece of my 16mm film with @flannerybogost; an incredible actress who starred in the film that got me into nyu-- I love her and I love everyone who worked with me on this film. working in film is a huge privilege and every day I endeavor to deserve it.

I went to Turkey and I watched this sunflower die in my rental car over the course of two weeks, and it was like watching a heart break in real time or witnessing something you want to say or do or love slip away from you over a period of small but accumulated moments. Sarah would have been 30 today. She would have still been playing the cello, laughing, and being just the most beautiful, sincere, and funny person I knew. Sarah indulged her friends the way I’ve always tried to emulate since then— she wore this purple shirt and interviewed in front of mirrors for my projects and was just honestly the coolest and most supportive artistic friend I had. I don’t even know why I’m posting this because words are never enough to express any kind of love, especially love bound up in grief. But I want people to know and remember that Sarah was one of a kind and she would have fucking killed it at 30.
