2024 – a year I spent more time with people I love, held a lamb in scotland, hugged my best friend’s baby for the first time, saw @a21 on @cnn and in times square, traveled to new places, celebrated my grandmother’s 90th birthday, hiked in machu picchu, ate great food, drank too much coffee, laughed, cried, and everything in between. feeling grateful 💛

some moments and memories from one of my favorite trips. south africa was breath-taking, and wildly beautiful!

as #walkforfreedom made its way around the world, hundreds of millions were reached with awareness of human trafficking over the last 24 hours. never not blown away by the significance of a weekend like this, or by the team who makes it happen.

But I’ve never been more full of hope that human trafficking can, and will, come to an end.

Deeply grateful, and honored to get to work with some of the most creative, passionate, and gifted people all over the world—some of which are pictured above, all of which played a deeply significant role in the creation and distribution of this content. Earlier this year, I was able to see first-hand the work our @a21 team is doing on the ground in Poland and Ukraine to educate refugees on the dangers of #humantrafficking, train frontline professionals on how to identify and report suspicions, and support survivors during this difficult time. In my short time there, I heard stories and witnessed the absolute best, and worst, of humanity. There are so many incredible people (our team included) who are sacrificing so much to see the people of Ukraine protected.

But the other reality is that refugees are some of the most vulnerable to human trafficking. And traffickers know this, and they intentionally exploit those vulnerabilities—whether it be the need for a job, a safe place to stay, or a way to provide for their families.

It’s heart-breaking, but it’s happening. We’ve seen it over and over again. But we’ve also seen how prevention can stop trafficking before it starts, how a hotline can be a line out for a victim, and how despite having experienced the most horrific trauma—restoration, hope and freedom are still possible.

I am constantly in awe of the resilience, passion, and hard work that our @a21ua team is investing to see refugees protected, and survivors supported. Hard to believe I’ve done this drive more years than not over the last decade…a quick trip from last month back to a place that was home for quite some time.
