The Epilogue of Gregory Archambault is a dark comedy about a suicidal writer who can’t commit suicide because he’s not satisfied with his suicide letter.
This short film explores the feelings and psyche of being a writer in our darkest times (and worst case of writer’s block). Gregory experiences a series of highs and lows, and by the end you can’t tell the difference between what is reality and what has been made up in his own mind. This film can be described as a love child between: Janicza Bravo’s ‘Gregory Go Boom’ (my favorite short film of all time), The Coen Brothers ‘Barton Fink’, and Stephen King’s ‘Secret Window, Secret Garden’.
Art, to me, is the process of the artist. There is an initial idea and a journey. That journey is a beautifully rich cacophony of highs and lows. Fuck ups. Mishaps. Happy accidents. Expectations both met and shattered into a million little pieces. You give up. You start again. You cry. You curse. You doubt. You question your self worth. You blame others. The finish line is always a moving target. But at some point you scream to the heavens “I’m finished. Here you go world—here is my art!” Then it’s out of the artists hands and into the minds and souls and mouths and ears and eyes of others.

In 46 hours & 31 minutes, strangers became family.
Somewhere outside Route66, the madness sets in—the raw, unfiltered kind. The kind that seeps through exhaustion and dehydration, whispering that your legs are concrete and your brain is a coyote being dragged behind a truck. The kind that makes you question everything: What is a mile? Why is a mile? I’m not doing a mile!
10 runners, 5 crew, & some wheels. No rules. No set course. Just a straight shot through the desert, chasing the neon mirage of Vegas. The kind of plan that only makes sense when you say it fast & leave out the part about no sleep & the existential unraveling somewhere around mile 300.
I don’t remember where I rolled my ankle. Just the pain. The sudden betrayal of my body. The crunch of pushing past the point of negotiation.
Enter Blue. A man? A myth? A fever-dream wrapped in KT tape? He nodded like some old cowboy doctor, wrapped my ankle tight, & sent me hobbling back into the race. No second thoughts. Just a knowing look that said, We couldn’t stop you even if we tried.
And so I ran. Limped. Stumbled forward. But something strange happened—the race swallowed me whole, stripped me down to breath and motion. And the team—fierce, relentless—kept me moving. We carried each other, stride for stride, through the abyss.
And then—WE WON.
What does that even mean? No podium. No medals. No corporate sponsors. Just a battered, half-broken crew standing at the Vegas sign, staring at the city like survivors of some great, unnamed war.
Maybe it means we won something bigger. A moment in life. A test of grit, trust, and presence. @thespeedproject isn’t a race—it’s an energy. A bond. It’s looking your team deep in the eyes, knowing you’d follow them into fire, mile after mile, step after step.
