Feeling off the scale grateful for everyone who’s support this year made it the most genuinely game changing for me 🙏💫
Like so many people, I’ve struggled with my mental health for quite a long time and did the classic thing of putting a huge amount of energy into not showing it to anyone while trying to figure it all out on my own, all to the point of exhaustion. This meant while I could get away with coming across fine, even great in any one moment, it ultimately lead to pretty full on burn out on a few of occasions & ultimately culminated in a breakdown a year ago today.
Through a whole lot of love & support from my partner, friends, family, a super supportive work set up and the right therapist, a year on looks unimaginably different.
Some days are dreamy & others take a bit (sometimes a lot!) more navigating, but as someone who got to the point of thinking that there was literally no way that things could get better, I’ll 💯 take that!
The biggest things I’ve learnt/had to challenge myself on, just in case it’s useful to anyone at all, are:
- It’s not only ok to not be ok, it’s human.
- Anyone worth having in your life won’t love you ANY less if you tell them you’re not ok. If anything it’ll make you feel closer to them because they know the real you a whole lot more!
- As long as you’re not harming/hurting anyone, the best thing you can do for yourself is to do things your way. Not a ‘should’ in sight, even if it takes a while to figure out what that looks like.
- Trying to think myself out of a shite headspace gave me temporary relief at best, but really just reinforced the thought patterns that ultimately kept tripping me up. Talking about it is no doubt super important and helpful, but the real change started when I began to work (ongoing!) with someone who could challenge my ways of framing & relating to thoughts & experiences while building new tools.
- Things sometimes feel worse after getting better, but that doesn’t mean you’re not moving in the right direction. Thats just part of living.
Have a lush 2025 and if you ever do need someone to talk to but it feels scary as f***, there’ll be absolutely zero judgement here! X
Such a fun evening last week doing the food for a @belazu_co & @luckysaintbeer canapé & cocktail pairing event!
Big love to both teams! X
Pizza loving on the allotment just in time to catch the beaut autumn sunset last night.
This time with nduja, freshly pulled leek and nasturtium flowers on a chilli & thyme bechamel base.
First summer with an allotment down the road and yesterday’s beaut weather was the perfect chance to round up a few veggies & herbs for some new dish development.
