Our theme this year – Checking In - Checking Out – is about taking a moment away from the fast-pace of everyday life, to lean into community, while checking in with yourself, spending time in nature, and exploring new and beloved bands.

We can’t wait to get groovy on the beach with Hélène Barbier!

Hailing from France and based in Montreal over the last decade, Hélène Barbier switches between English and French atop aggressively anti-complicated avant-pop melodies. Surrounded by talented musicians whom she knows to be allergic to tired chords and unnecessary fillers, she creates an imbalance through juxtaposition. Four simple notes become evocative alongside four disorienting, different notes, and this simplistic rule has become a basis for complex play.

Taking the main stage on Saturday, Housewife!

Dreamy bedroom pop vocals laced with angst and indie rock riffs from Toronto-based artist, Brighid Fry (she/they). Following the success of Moscow Apartment’s two EPs and full length release, Fry has successfully ventured into solo territory with their 2025 EP ‘Better Daughter’. Fry is not only a talented singer and songwriter, they are also dedicated to climate action, having co-founded Music Declares Emergency Canada and continually advocating for sustainable practices within the music industry and our daily lives.

Coming in from Montreal for Saturday night on the main stage- knitting!

knitting is the guitar-driven indie rock band of Mischa Dempsey, Sarah Harris, and Andy Mulcair. Emerging from Montreal’s DIY scene, they blend slacker rock, grunge, and shoegaze into introspective, melodic, distortion-laced songs. Following 2024’s Some Kind of Heaven, knitting returns with Souvenir, out July 26, 2026 via Mint Records.

Another rocking contribution to our Friday night on the main stage, R&S welcomes Witchrot!

Witchrot is a doom-tinged psych rock band known for crushing riffs, hypnotic grooves, and an atmosphere that swings between beauty and heaviness. Led by Lea Reto’s dynamic, haunting vocals, the band features Peter Turik on guitar, Jon Ferreira on bass, Myles Deck on drums, and Patrick Sherrard on the keys. Their newest release Soul Cellar (2025) is a “soul-stirring, multi-faceted ritual that will either lead you to join their cult or send you to your demise” (Doomed Nation)

Sunday, Beach Stage- Steph Green!

Steph Green’s music is for those who fancy the art of songwriting, depicting a lonely world illuminated by strangeness and beauty. Her sound blends elements of folk, dream pop, and indie rock, and her lyrics reveal an affecting and arresting storyteller. A spirit of independence and experimentation characterize Green’s approach to music, with all of her releases featuring her in the roles of producer and multi-instrumentalist.

Green’s haunting sophomore album, “Lore”, is a series of vignettes that immerse the listener in dreams and nightmares of the West. It’s a world where the natural and supernatural collide, wailing spirits wander lost highways, and shapeshifting starling murmurations soar overhead of restless loners. Green recorded “Lore” at home on a 16-track reel-to-reel, creating a wild, rugged, and eerie homage to both a real and imagined place.

Welcoming Atsuko Chiba to the R&S Main Stage, Saturday night!

Montréal’s Atsuko Chiba offer “pounding, angular rock” (BrooklynVegan), venturesomely crossing genre-defining borders with a cohesive and hypnotic blend of post-rock, progressive rock, and krautrock, weaving together a rich sonic tapestry that subverts through offbeat songwriting. Since forming, they have released three full-length albums (Jinn, Trace, and Water, It Feels Like It’s Growing), two EPs (Figure and Ground and The Memory Empire), as well as a slew of singles, all of which they self-produced at Room 11, their home studio. After offering booming tracks “Pope’s Cocaine” and “Climax Therapy” in the Summer of 2025, the five-piece unveil Atsuko Chiba on April 24th, 2026 via Mothland, a self-titled long-player introducing elements from trip-hop, chamber pop, and ambient to their already sprawling psychedelic alloy.

Over the years, Atsuko Chiba have toured Canada, the United States, and Europe, adding a few dates in the United Kingdom, while also filming countless live renditions of their pieces, including a breathtaking session commissioned by Audiotree Worldwide in 2021. In concert, the five musicians combine their unique brand of experimental rock with video and light installations triggered in real time by the band, creating an immersive multisensorial environment. While taking to the road with their telepathic audiovisual tempest, the outfit have shared the stage with visionary acts, such as ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Big Business, Duchess Says, King Buffalo, 65daysofstatic, and Caspian, while also performing notable events, the likes of Portals Festival, SXSW, Waking Windows, M for Montreal, FME, and Lawnya Vawnya. “On stage, Montréal quintet Atsuko Chiba manipulate our senses [...]” (Les Inrocks)

Detail oriented? Enjoy a good rush of adrenaline? Like working behind the scenes? The Artist Hospitality Coordinator might be the position for you!

The main responsibility of the Artist Hospitality Coordinator is to ensure artists are housed, fed, appreciated, and kept safe in undertaking their jobs during the festival. The work of the Artist Hospitality Coordinator will be split among two people. Work well with a friend? Apply together!

Prior to the festival, the Artist Hospitality Coordinator will work with the Festival Coordinator to sort through artists’ advances, taking note of arrival times, specific requests, tech riders and more. The Artist Hospitality Coordinator will be supported during the festival by volunteers, assigned by the festival Volunteer Coordinator.

This position is not for the faint of heart- working hours typically run from 8:00 AM-3:00 AM during the festival.

R&S is excited to welcome Wyatt C. Louis to the main stage, Thursday night!

Walking the line between genres like an easy path rather than a tightrope, carried by textural
and ethereal songs lifted up by stunning vocals, Wyatt C. Louis’ debut album Chandler refers to
simply their middle name. Louis (they/he), a Plains Cree singer-songwriter born and raised in parts of Treaty Six, now lives in Moh’kinstsís (Blackfoot name for Calgary) and lets that amalgamation of place shine through on these tracks, some of which came to life in the quiet and contemplative days of deep pandemic lockdown. Out via Royal Mountain Records, Chandler is suffused with a soft comfort that glows with feelings of familiarity and ease. Louis found levity through collaboration. A new experience, the result is upbeat yet cozy, the kind of songs that show off Louis’ contradictions of paying homage to the country music ingrained in the geography of their childhood, with an indie and roots spin that makes it something different.
