Before Congress, I was a county judge in East Texas. Victims of these scams walk in the front door of their local police departments — they need to be met by someone who understands this crime and can help recover their assets.

Local law enforcement is stepping up. Congress needs to back them up with the tools and resources to fight back.

Americans lost at least $10 billion last year to cyber scam operations run by Chinese organized crime — factory-sized compounds staffed by trafficked workers using AI to steal everything victims have.

Writing on the walls of these compounds: "There's not a single person who can't be scammed. They just haven't seen the right script at the right moment."

The WAGES Act puts money back where it belongs—in the hands of local businesses to fund apprenticeship programs and build the next generation of America's workforce.

Caliber Collisions hosted a roundtable including EDC reps from Tyler, Longview & Kilgore, Tyler Chamber, Workforce Solutions East Texas, Kilgore College, TJC, Tyler ISD, and Trane Technologies.

These leaders made it clear—apprenticeships work and the WAGES Act will provide them greater liberty to invest in the upcoming workforce.

We are investing in America’s workforce by growing America’s apprenticeships. Great to talk with folks in Tyler about the WAGES Act—legislation to create a payroll tax credit to offset the cost of apprentice wages.

Trane Technologies is building its workforce the right way—partnering with TJC to train workers before they ever hit the floor. The WAGES Act gives more companies the incentive to do the same. Grateful for their leadership and their investment in our East Texas community.

On National Day of Prayer, I join Americans across this nation in pausing to pray—for our communities, our country, and for one another.
